Running them has no impact on if your opponent plays around them or not. Are the effects potentially better than the it be rings of the same element?....maybe. The problem is that they also potentially do nothing. In competitive play consistency wins games and running a card that might work under all the right circumstances or if your opponent makes a mistake is generally a bad idea. More often than not they will fizzle because good players will account for them and prevent you from getting any value out of them.
