reshuffle deck?

By Simon_86, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

After searching a specific card in a deck, must shuffle the deck in question, having seen the order of cards in the deck?

That's an already asked question, several times that is. I actually think I even asked it myself once. And we even had that argument AGAIN yesterday evening. You're meant to, but I don't think it's written anywhere. We house ruled it that we search from the bottom of decks, if the card is found like in the thirty-around first cards, we don't shuffle (I got all the exps so we're sure not to even get to the half of any deck during the game), but if found nearer the begining of the deck, then we shuffle after that, yeah.

Do it your way :) but do it well ;)

My group (which most of the time means me playing solo gui%C3%B1o.gif) shuffles whenever we have to search through one of the decks.

Most of the time there is no rule or instruction. I'm sure that searching the deck isn't supposed to give you psychic knowledge of the future as a by product. We too always search from the bottom of the deck. Besides its easier and faster since you don't have to turn cards over.

I suppose if an investigator is in play that gets to look at the bottom card (like Ashcan Pete) you could keep the original bottom or give him a new bottom.

Like most players I don't like to do anything that gives the players an advantage unless its specifically required by the rules.

I could have sworn (i.e. I believe with absolute confidence that this was said, but I can't for the life of me remember where) that FFG officially stated that you reshuffle if you search for a specific card (as opposed to a specific type of card). Does anyone else remember?

I do have the same feeling of reading this somewhere... I try to fetch the post

If that's what they said, they must have said it before release of CotDP or at least during the first two or three exps... that is, BEFORE all decks were SO big as they are now :D I'm glad with all my boxes (5 of them, 2 tiny for Invest cards, 3 big for big cards) because reshuffling a deck now takes ages... and I mean reshuffling it well ;) (like, spreading all the cards face down on the table, and shuffling them in big circles and all...)

It is in the new unpublished FAQ. If you search through a deck, you must reshuffle it.

This starts to be very frustating... Where can we get this "unpublished faq" that many people have looked at ?

Even if it is a unfinished version, I would be thrilled ! :-))

I would post it but 1) it has conflicting answers and 2) I heavily modified it to make it more cohesive. So it really isn't for me to do. I shot off another email to our contact within FFG that has been working on it. That was yesterday morning and still no answer back.

::Laughter:: three or four of us have seen it (because we were sent copies to proofread and send critiques back with).

And what Colt said, and we weren't really given permission to post it.

Besides, it would be less thrilling than you'd think, we've already posted the major rules clarifications and changes.

Alllll right. I guess we will have to wait for it quietly ;o) Thanks
