BSG invasion!

By hereticjon, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

If anyone has converted an Armada squadron with Vypers from the wonderful Battlestar Galactica game I would be very happy to see it. Starbuck squadron would be tremendous.

Seeing as Fantasy Flight clearly has some tabletop rights to BSG I would add that Battlestar Galactica: Armada would be pretty sweet too

I think they could scale it well too I kinda want this now.

@melminiatures has a lot of stuff on Shapeways from BSG including Vipers (I think 2 types).

I would love to see BSG get the Armada treatment but I doubt it will ever happen.

Someone here has done some vipers.

They can go right down the line of space operas and Armada everything like Wizkids did with Heroclix. I wouldn't be sad. BSG, Mass Effect, Twilight Imperium (why not?), Babylon 5...

If all we ever get is Star Wars Empire vs Rebels I am good with that too. This game is my favourite.

Babylon 5 I want so bad. It would be so cool

My wallet would kill me if they made a BSG or Babylon 5 version of Armada. Though, the one I really want is a Stargate themed version. I want to fly BC-304s against some Goa'uld or Wraith ships.

I would love all of these. Most of all though they need to do a Star Trek version. I so want to crush the Enterprise with an ISD. I'd tell FFG to do this and take all my money but they're already doing a pretty good job of that now.

Want to help me overhaul my work on KDY? Most of the designs are in pretty serious need of overhaul, with most overarmed and probably suffering mild undercosting. Also only have two of the five captains as commanders for lack of ideas.

Sure, that looks pretty cool. Not sure how much help I'll be but I'll give it a shot.

Did you ever get into b5 wars mini game because the sculps weren't bad. No idea bout the ruleset.

@GiledPallaeon

Captain Janeway - After a friendly ship executes a maneuver, if it did not attack or overlap an obstacle or ship, it may execute a speed 1 maneuver. Just thought Voyagers captain should give some type of movement benefit.

Captain Sisko - Once per round, when a friendly ship activates, it may place 1 mine (objective) token at distance 1. He mined the entrance to the wormhole during the dominion war.

Not sure about points costs though.

No. In fact I had never watched any B5 before about a year ago.

Whaaaaaat.!?!? I think I'm getting old I remember watching that show weekly with my family when it came out, I keep forgetting that that's been over 20 years ago now.

I am old. B5 came out when I was in high school. It's just one of those sci-fi shows I didn't get around to for 20+ years.

Given Janeway's attack restriction, she could be very good anyway. Starfleet lacks a Demolisher analog, but it still really sets up well for last/first. I'd want to ban ET/Janeway double-ups definitely. 30ish, since that is a lot of velocity for early-game positioning.

For the mines, presumably they don't activate on friendly movement (unlike the objective). Once per round isn't all that many mines though. What if he has a stash of tokens stored on his card (7 or 8 maybe), and a ship may place one per activation, no limit on ships placing per round? You're still going to have a beastly time dropping them all on one or even two targets at once with that many ships flying around.

I didn't even think about doubling up with ET when making Janeway my bad.

I wasn't worried about distinguishing between friendly/ unfriendly ships with the mines since they wouldn't activate until a ship ended its movement. I agree that a pool of mines would be better.

You weren't kidding about some of these being overarmed. One look at those Galaxy classes smashed my hopes of taking one out with my ISD. On the other hand the Constitution class wouldn't put up much of a fight.

The peak of Starfleet's top-end warships is higher than an Imperial (glance at the glass cannons otherwise known as Defiant and Prometheus ), and could use some toning down. Part of the reason they are so heavily armed is I was trying to portray their saucers as providing greater arcs of fire than an ISD's wedge. I may go trim out blacks from all the side arcs simply to portray forward facing torpedo tubes and only beam weapons equipped to fire laterally. The other issue is that I am not prone to aiming for double arcs, so I may have underestimated that value. The generic weakness of Starfleet's ships are that they usually have Rebel-grade hulls, but practically zero squadron support capability, meaning they have to rely heavily on the Rogu e runabouts for squadron cover. TL;DR, that's why I asked for help.

I'm still reading through all of your ships and upgrades so maybe I haven't seen it yet but how are transporters handled.

Ignored with the exception of a support team upgrade. There's noises in the canon about transport being impossible when shields are up, so if you have a cool idea for a shields-down attack, go for it, but I generally left it for later.

I really like the photonic decoy upgrade.

It would be really good for ships like MC30s and what not to close the range on victims. Starfleet massively outguns the two Cardassian ships that I've designed, so it was built to give them a way to close the range. In retrospect, given that the best comparison is Lando, should the card become an exhaust/lose cost?

I think it's good as a discard. It should have a higher cost than Lando because it has a much higher ceiling for damage mitigation. If you do reduce the cost I wouldn't drop it below 6.

This is harder than I thought it would be. I see why you're having difficulty statting these.
