Game looks awesome... but sadly, I cannot afford it.

This game looks like so much fun. I love the dice, the cards, the mechanics of the game and most importantly the world itself.

I just can't justify the money that would required to have even a few mediocre decks. I'm so disappointed... oh well, I guess I will spend my money elsewhere.

Still, the game looks awesome.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like your mind is made up, but as an FYI, you can get a few actually good decks for $60 if you buy two copies of the new 2-player set. After that, it’s at most $900 to get every single card in the game, or significantly less (about $100) to get enough packs to have an enourmous amount of options and trade fodder.

2 copies of the starter sets set would provide me with 1 deck with Kylo Ren and 1 deck with Rey? which would probably suffice for a while but I feel would perhaps get stale after a while.

It would be hard for me to drop $100 and not be sure as to what I am getting, thus making hard to create decks with any synergy to them.

While it doesn't replace playing the game with tangible cards and dice, and physically sitting across from someone, Table Top Simulator on Steam is a decent alternative and that should only cost you $20.

I only play once or twice a week (at best) in person, but the doesn't seem to be a lack of people playing online.

CCG's in general are expensive, this game is no exception. It is smart to be wise with your money.

Two copies of the new 2 player starter set gets you two complete decks for $60 and is a good self contained product. Getting one of those decks competitive from there actually isn't too difficult as they are pretty good decks. But yeah, the entry point for this game is at least $100.

What do you mean by this? Do you have to own two of every card? Others have given great advice on how to start with this game and not spend an arm and a leg. Buy a 2 player starter. Play this with a friend and see if you like the game. At this point you've only invested $30. Spend another $30 on a second 2 player starter if you enjoyed the game. For $60, you now have 2 tournament legal decks to play with. (Is this what you're interested in?) From here, you can buy boosters for the fun of random cards, or turn to the singles market. You can put together strong decks this way for under $20.

CCGs are expensive you cannot do anything about it.

BUT.

If you want to play casual or even semi competetive you can assemble a working deck for very reasonable price.
Good start are the 2 player sets - i recently played vs Rey/Poe from those and it was very very solid. Split 2player set with someone then buy some singles and hey ~50-60$ you have a deck.

It's a fun game for sure, I've found myself more into the collecting than the playing unfortunately...I thought it would be easier to get some of my friends and family into it...and they just aren't. I'm at that point where I've got a decent sized collection that just sits there.

My original post was obsolete at this point

You're right... I'm going to get two 2 Player sets tommorow. This game look like too much fun not to play.

I'm also going to head to my local board game shop and see if any of the regulars would sell me some commons & uncommons.

Are there any resources and or links that are helpful to learn this game?

In our group C and UC are usually free for new players if they need some - so test your luck man, you may haul more than you expect.

swdestinydb.com is a great site with both deckbuilder and list of decks.

Awesome!

The best resource is the official rules reference:

There’s also a number of gameplay videos posted to this forum, but I think the real best way to learn is just to play the game. It’s really not that hard of a game, and it’s pretty easy to pick up on it if you watch other people playing.

The best thing to do is look and see when people are playing at your local game store. The best and most economical way to get a good deck is through shrewd trades with other players.
