Discard down to your hand size?

By robguyday, in Star Wars: Destiny

I was playing a game with a buddy, and two questions came up that we couldn't really answer.

i was playing eQuinlan/e7thSister.

i had 8 cards in my hand. At the end of the round, do I have to discard down to 5?

Secondly, with Sister's free seeker droid dice, do I track it seperately from other seeker droid dice? Or if my opponent defeats her, does my opponent get to choose which of the two seeker dice I get to keep as the "free" one?

You don’t have to discard down if you have more than five cards. You just don’t draw new ones.

Seventh Sister’s Seeker Droid dice is not removed when she’s defeated, but you should track it in case they have a card that removes a support and gets rid of one of your Seeker Droid supports.

The rules reference doesn't explicitly cover this scenario, because you don't have two copies of the same upgrade on a character. But it seems reasonable that it could falls under the "unless there is a reason to do so" clause. So in this case you have a reason to track which one is the upgrade die, and which one gets added when you activate the character, so you should track them separately.

Quote

DICE LEAVING PLAY

• If a card with a matching die leaves play, the matching die is also immediately returned to the set-aside zone. The removed die can enter play again at a later time, if its card enters play again.

• If a player has two copies of the same upgrade on a character, they do not need to keep track of which die is associated with which card, unless there is a reason to do so (like Con Artist). When both dice are in a dice pool and an ability targets one of their cards, the player resolving the ability chooses which die it affects.

• If a player has two copies of the same upgrade on different characters (one upgrade on each character), they must make sure to track each die separately.

Oh wow, so you don't have to discard down? Sheesh. There were several games that I had 9 cards in hand. Great.

thanks for the info, you two.

Also, Seeker Droid is an upgrade, not a support. Very confusing. I played it wrong my first time too :-)

I love using Luke/Ackbar and getting off that 7 damage Launch Bay.

Granted, by that point in the game, you pretty much could have won without the Launchbay anyway.

I never used it as a support.

I love people having more than 5 cards so I can tigger lying in wait to max effect. Played someone with 7 in hand a few days back... Painful given it was my last card.

If they have lying in wait in their deck, then I've already won.

If you go look at swdestinydb and look up decks, there is one designed to just draw cards so they can use launch bay to do massive damage.

It's actually a pretty strong card. It just hasn't seen the right deck yet.
