I don't care much for alien species as PC's

Nobody said anything racist to you, some disagreed with your pseduo intellectual social ranting, that doesn't make them racist. I actually didn't even care about that discussion.

To my knowledge no one called you names either,"patchy" . I think you're mostly a hypocrite that likes to apply labels and manners of conduct to others that you don't bother to follow yourself, and I am sure you and Stan Fresh are one and the same.

There are many ways to be racist and prejudicial 2p, it is not something that only exists when it is phicially voiced or typed out, and if you were being intellectually honest rather than inherently defensive and contrary then you would see that, but you aren’t so there’s that

also if it helps I’m sorry for calling you patchy, I didn’t have your name in front of me and had no desire to look it up, and remembering people in this thread called you the pirate I thought to call you patchy, although I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the fact that it got a rise out of you.

But let’s engage in some intellectual honesty here:

my comment was to call you patchy

your comments have been to say that no one has to care about how the game effects people of color, that people who can’t deal with the real world and accept how it is (i.e. people of color who voice their complaints) are infantile losers (a sentiment echoed by a few on here), and to accuse a poc to be a white man in disguise making up lies in order to cause inconvenience rather than talking about their actual lived experiences.

Do these even begin to seem comparable.

But thanks for the opportunity you’ve given me to point out how people can express prejudice without saying anything that might seem blatantly racist.

Interesting word choice from two 'different' people. Interesting also that I didn't engage Norr-Saba on his thesis at all I just posted my suspicion about being nothing more than a throw down avatar, never said a word about the content of the rant. Then Stan Fresh comes to his defense, and slanders me accusing me of racism, even though I never even jumped into the alien/racism/human ping pong discussion at all.

I can't understand why I would suspect shenanigans........... <_< ........while we're talking about intellectual honesty.......or lack thereof

Go ahead and quote where I said no one has to care about how the game effects anyone, for any reason, go right ahead and quote me.

I never even said a thing about your long winded rants other than I found it interesting that someone who is 'new' to a Star Wars gaming forum within their first ten posts would choose to jump into this thread and start lecturing. I stand by my opinion about everything else, and couldn't care less whether you or anyone else likes it, that's called freedom and you can't do anything about it.

Racism is the new Scarlet Letter for the safe space crowd.....

Look 2p I’m palestinian, I’ve been accused of not existing my whole life, you’re going to have to do better than this.

Racism has always been bad, you understand that right? The only difference is that now more people of color feel comforatable enough to talk about their experiences without fear of violent reprisal.

Oh ****, two people don't just meekly roll over when you spew racism? Must be a conspiracy. And they both even use the same word that's usually used to describe people like you!

I'm not slandering you, I'm pointing out your racism. It's not slander if it's true. Which anyone reading along can see.

I may have missed it, but as far as I know, nobody said anything like this. As far as I can tell, you're making this up to feed the chip-demon on your shoulder. I don't think the OP's responses to you were very constructive, but I don't think you've been any better.

In the new definition of logic if you don't agree it's the same thing.

Welllllllllllll................................

It takes a very unkeen eye to think that this isn't a hotbutton issue in a large number of peoples' lives, whether anyone likes it or not. I think lumping all claims into the same bucket violates Wheaton's Law (DBAD) and I can see why this invokes ire. As you state, you are absolutely free to say whatever you want, but you are not free of the consequences of that. I think there's a radical difference between a claim of inherent racism and say, fat shaming, as an example.

I'm sorry, I'm not free of what consequences of expressing my opinion in a free society? Thats' sounds an awful lot like a threat.

I mean, the safe space crowd... that's the people who get upset when their prejudices are pointed out. They're the ones who can't deal in a mature, adult manner with words like privilege, prejudice, or racism, but instead fly off the handle when these issues "intrude" into their safe spaces (RPGs, in this case).

I seem to have missed this - can you point me to the specific racist comments? I get it that there's an undertone but I know these folks and I really don't feel there's intentional racism going on. I feel like I lived in that space for a long time and it took some doing to open my eyes to a wider reality.

I'm sorry you feel threatened, that is not my intent! Let me rephrase - you are 100% free to say whatever you like. And 100% of other people that read it are free to say what they like. And 0% of you have to like it.

The accusation that the person of color and his problems don't exist, for one.

Please quote it for me, I already spent a bunch of time digging through this wonderful thread last night and I couldn't find it. So, it stands to reason I either didn't see it, or didn't perceive it as such - and if it's the latter I could stand to learn something.

The accusation that he and his problems don't exist has been on this very page of the thread, so it's kind of hard to see how you can say no one said anything like that to him.

Really? The pirate dude has been meekly insinuating, and now outright stating, that Norrsaba is just a troll account by me for several pages in this thread.

I saw that part, that's hard to miss. I'm looking for the racism. Outright staying that someone made an alt to back up their point of view doesn't constitute that, but even reading those messages I wasn't coming up with overt racism, so I suspected it was more subtle and I wasn't cluing in. So yeah, I guess ELI5.

You've jumped the shark here. Early on I "liked" one of your posts about welcoming minorities, because I felt the OP's response was rather thoughtless. But now both you and Norr-Saba are taking a shotgun approach to anyone who disagrees with you, and yeah, slandering other people based on your own projections.

Case 1: pulling the "racism" card after being accused of being a doppel. This is entirely on you, because they don't have anything to do with each other.

In that case you should have no trouble producing it.

Case 2: and this has anything to do with racism...how?

I'm pretty sure you're two separate people, but the shared conflation of disagreement-to-racism is an interesting parallel...

If a woman posted here about some uncomfortable experiences with guys hitting on her in game, etc, and someone came along and claimed neither she nor the problem actually exists, would you deny that this was a form of suppressing and dismissing her lived experience? Because that's sexism, and denying the existence of a person of color under the similar circumstances here in this thread is racism.

Racism is subtle and insidious.

This was pretty excellent thread and now it's only a matter of time before we see a threadlock. Personally, I hope it happens soon. This is starting to get vile.

It's not about disagreement.

But when someone says "that dark-skinned dude? he's not real, and neither are his problems"? Yes, that's racism. That's dismissing not just someone's experience but their very existence. That's saying that this person of color here? He's not actually a person, not like the rest of us (who aren't colored) so obviously are.

This thread is now closed.
