By Thrain23, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys. Going to my first store kit this weekend and trying to fine tweak my list. I really like defenders and wanting to use at least Ves. I started here and been flying this for a while

Bread (100)

•"Omega Leader" (26) - TIE/FO Fighter
Juke (2), Comm Relay (3)

•Colonel Vessery (38) - TIE Defender
Adaptability (0) (down), Ion Cannon (3), TIE/D (0)

•Countess Ryad (36) - TIE Defender
Expertise (4), TIE/x7 (-2)

really liked Ryad with expertise to free the action just to make sure if OL went down first I still had TL for Vess. I also like Ryad and Vess at the same PS.

Ions are cool but we have a few FSR lists in the area so I'm thinking a ruthlessness Tractor is probably a better option for the double tap

Here are my questions. Should I just switch to expertise for ruthlessness and call it a day or should I try some other options I've been thinking of.

Bread - Copy x7x1 (100)

•Colonel Vessery (39) - TIE Defender
Ruthlessness (3), Tractor Beam (1), TIE/D (0)

•Countess Ryad (32) - TIE Defender
Adaptability (0), TIE/x7 (-2)

•"Backdraft" (29) - TIE/SF Fighter
Trick Shot (0), Fire Control System (2), Special Ops Training (0)

switching OL out for brackdraft with FCS for Vess and to help with action economy.

other options include switching to Vess with advanceds but at the cost of their dials

(100)

•Colonel Vessery (40) - TIE Defender
Ruthlessness (3), Tractor Beam (1), TIE/D (0), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

•Valen Rudor (25) - TIE Adv. Prototype
TIE/v1 (1), Autothrusters (2)

•Darth Vader (35) - TIE Advanced
Veteran Instincts (1), TIE/x1 (0), Engine Upgrade (4), Advanced Targeting Computer (5)

Or I could sub Vader without EU for Ryad in the original plan to have an ace

the final thought would be to switch Ryad to TB also but then I'm worried about running into large ships and TB not being as good.

let me know what you guys think and if you have any advice for a first time tournament goer too. Thanks I'm advance.

For your first tournament, fly the version you're used to using. Tweak it afterwards.

Against lists that your ships are good against, either of the first 2 lists will do ok, and both will struggle against lists that they are bad against. Swapping to get Vader or Valen if you haven't played them much will make it harder for you without improving your matchups.

Enjoy the tournament and adopt the motto 'someone has to come last' so you can celebrate if you do better than that :) .
