Can you pay the difference on a support to play a more expensive support?

I couldn't find an exact answer on this, but can you play the difference in resources for a more expensive version of a support in play? I noticed for the quadjumper that it has an action to discard it and play another support for 3 resources less. I'm guessing that I can't do that regularly like I can for upgrades. For instance, can I play the ghost, then replace it to pay one resource for the falcon?

Unfortunately no... Quadjumper is the only support that works like this. Other supports are all or nothing. That’s part of why supports don’t see a lot of play - it’s hard to sit on that many resources for that long.

Ok - thanks for the answer. For some reason I thought you could do it, but I guess I haven't been playing with supports much before EAW came out.

I wonder how that would change the game if Supports were given the same treatment as Upgrades and allowed to "buy up"? I think the current set needs to be given a chance to fully effect the game play, but if Supports are still rarely seen by December, this might be a solution.
