TIE Interceptor Pilots Ranked

Carnor needs to be 1 or 2, Fel second, Turr 3rd. After that, they're all basically irrelevant. Well, more irrelevant.

I'm not actually very impressed with Turr. He CAN be really fun, but is extremely matchup dependent. In order to be really good, Turr has to fulfill 2 conditions: 1) he has to be playing against a squad of PS 1-8's, and 2) most of the opposing list's firepower has to be arc-locked. In most cases (especially these days), I think a Saber or RGP with PTL is more resilient and saves you points.

Most people will come up with Fel and Jax with Turr being known to those who have played for some time. Wonder how many people couldn't even name the rest without looking them up much less use them.

Then it's a great opportunity for those of us who've played with the forgotten pilots to encourage everyone else to try them! Named Interceptor pilots have some really fun abilities and can lead to some really fun games!

Agreed so much fun just, bu even with autothruster it only takes 1or 2 shots to make him dead with any turret

When facing turrets with Lorrir, I try to use the barrel roll only if I know it'll block them. Using your action for a defensive token really helps his survivability - you just have to trust that his 3 dice shot can help to whittle a fat turret down.

In this meta, I'd say the ability to pilot an arc dodger is irrelevant. They all die pretty fast anyway.

Soontir/Carnor for aces and Royal Guard and Alpha Squadron for generics.

Royal Guard squadron pilot, a nice gem ! I remember flying 2 of them with tile/ptl/shield/hull to protect a ace, now they can really match against Glaive...

Another fun squadron/swarm with interceptor was soontir +5 obsidian squadron pilots !

And that's the attitude that creates a crappy meta.

The other pilots exist, and even if they are not #1 and #2, they can have a role in the game.

This isn't actually true. The could be designed to have a role in the game but they actually haven't. The Interceptor is designed as a fast arc dodger - that means it only really works at high PS with multiple actions.

All other interceptors are designed and coated in this way as well, they are not designed to have different roles.

Its possible they could have been, but in general it is rare for FFG to actually design a single ship so it can serve multiple roles, which is why you don't generally see all pilots/generics of a single ship type actually do anything in the game.

Jumpmasters are the exception, not the rule.

Why Kir Kanos doesn't have an EPT?

I would love to fly him more...

Lorrir is better than Kir Kanos

1. Carnor Jax

2. nothing
3. Soontir Fel

As wee need to get them to ps 10+ Jax and Fel are the only options. However if you look at Fel without an EPT he is pretty meh. You can get a focus for the Kturn and that was it. Carnor has a very interesting ability that counters some of the band c lists out there (like attani stuff).

It's also a decent heavy swarmer as a competitor to strikers. It comes in at 20 points with a 3-dice attack and enough defences that shooting at it at range 3 is a bit of a joke with anything short of ace-killing firepower if it has autothrusters, but - unlikethe Interceptor Aces - remains cheap enough to be expendable in a way Fel isn't.

15 attack dice in a concentrated strafing run is enough to put a dent in pretty much any opponent you care to name.

The Avenger squadron pilot is a bit poo, though, because jumping from PS1 to PS3 impresses precisely no-one.

Oh, newbie...

For educational purposes:

It's worth noting that the 5 Autothruster Alpha swarm was also seen at UK Nationals, did pretty well too.

An interesting list could be Carnor with Stealth Device and Zetrik Strom with the same, and maybe a Decimator or RS-Weapons Guidance Kylo.

Carnos is the best. His control can be amazing if played well. One of my favorite pilots ever. I also like Kir Kanos (both in lore and game), but the lack of ept is the dealbreaker...

Thank you so much for being condescending and univiting.

That you can fly a swarm of Interceptors doesn't really change what the designers designed in the ship. Interestingly the 5 Interceptor Swarm is far more thematic for what the ship should be.

What is really funny is that Interceptors should be intercepting ordinance carrying ships and taking them down before they can deliver their payload and Interceptors are utterly wreaked by bombs.

I’d tend to put Carnor at #1 because he’s slightly less meta dependent than Fel, if only because PtL isn’t stapled to him.

Turr is pretty cool with Intensity.

Tetran with Stay on Target is kinda cool.

Carnor with VI is a solid ship, but he really wants some buddies to help him regain the lost actions from taking VI over PtL. Stridan with a systems officer and fleet officer is an amazing support ship.

My turn!

1. Soontir Fel
2. Carnor Jax
3. Alpha Squadron Pilot
4. Lt. Lorrir
5. Fel's Wrath
6. Saber Squadron Pilot
5. Royal Guard Pilot
6. Turr Phennir
7. Tetran Cowall
8. Kir Kanos
9. Avenger Squadron Pilot

Now, this isn't necessarily in best-to-worst, more of how often I've played them - the more value I see in them, the more I play them. Your mileage will vary. I'll note that I'm looking at these pilots in standard and Epic games, so it's a bit of a twist on the normal outlook. Alpha Sq. Pilots are really strong in Epic, and Lt. Lorrir stole my heart when he was first released, and I haven't let that go.

I've been loving the discussion so far, so keep it up!

I'm actually really determined to give Fels Wrath a try some of these days. Could be fun. Fly aggressively, act as a decoy for my other Interceptors. Tempt the opponent to "waste" his attacks on him...
