Dominating the Battlefield

Once, long ago we encountered and fortunately defeated an ill-tempered and obstinate Hill Giant, with no casualties I might add. So when we first laid eyes on that Creature in the battle lines of our enemy, we thought we would simply advance archers to achieve an identical result - victory.

Quickly we found that this beast was different; it moved with agility and kept itself well hidden in the forest, almost out of sight. Just as our archers moved into range, we noticed a flurry of activity and heard what sounded like boars crashing through the underbrush. Frozen in place and slack jawed in amazement, we watched as the shadows from the first battery of logs seemed to hover across our faces, and seconds later smashed down from sky to earth, tearing their way through our lines.

We understood then - this would be a heck of a fight!

FFG is proud to announce the immanent arrival of an expansion that will enhance your BattleLore games with more figures, new game components, and five fantastic scenarios - BattleLore: Creatures!

Visit the BattleLore support page and download the rules (pdf, 9.7 MB) for the Green Banner Wood Giant, the Blue Banner Hydra with six interchangeable neck pieces, and the Red Banner Rock Elemental.

Although the Giant and Rock Elemental figures were once available only as limited edition promotional items, in BattleLore: Creatures you get both figures plus brand new variant Creature summary cards. The Wood Giant has a new lair and will attack enemies from afar with a flurry of logs hurled from any forest on the battlefield!

The Rock Elemental is a stronger, more powerful elemental that can be summoned by a Wizard Lore Master from your army's War Council.

Finally, the awe-inspiring Hydra is a multi-headed creature with the ability to move quickly, deliver a powerful strike, and even grow new heads when existing heads are damaged. The included model is designed with one body section, and six different neck sections that allow the figure to sprout from 3 to 6 separate heads. The Hydra is a most fearsome opponent indeed!

All these three new Creatures can make use of the newly revised Creatures Rules for BattleLore (pdf, 6.7 MB). Check back in the coming week for more on BattleLore: Creatures!
