Pre-order from FFG

By drail14me, in X-Wing

I noticed the pre-order option for the Bomber and Silencer on the FFG website. It mentioned getting them ordered before the release date. Do they ship before the release date?

Also, noticed that wave 12 is NOT available for pre-order. That tells me wave 13 will release before 12? Probably in time for the movie release?

I suspect it has something to do with this new Distributor deal. Perhaps Wave 13 may end up being harder for retail stores to get, thus you can order it from FFG directly?

If anyone is smart, noone will buy wave 13 and completly ignore new disney *** ships.

If someone dislikes the new ships, that is the smart thing. If someone actually likes them, the smart move is to go with what you like.

Come on Sabine, Its easier to admit that Disney is slowly sending starwars the same place Microsoft sends Halo.....

To the graveyard of ruined IPs

Or, you could not do that.

Rebels is awesome.

Rogue One was the Star Wars Kurasawa movie I never knew I wanted.

The new Star Wars Land at Disneyland sounds like a religious experience for nerds.

Or did you prefer the way the franchise was being handled by George Lucas in his later years?

Dispite what people thought of Episode 1-3, the ships at least looked cooler, and no matter what anyone's views of anything else about the series, it at least was created by Lucas himself. It was HIS creation, if he wanted to ruin it, that is his prerogative. How would you feel if you created a epic movie that changed cinema for ages, only to have someone with a bunch of money be able to pretty much steal control of it and then throw 90% of what you authorized to exist beyond your own creation to be thrown in the garbage. Friends of yours, co-workers, people who helped shape your creation basicly thrown under the bus just in the name of M.O.N.E.Y. Its sad that noone teaches anyone these days there are more important things besides money.

Firstly, the Silencer looks like a pimp love-child of a TIE Interceptor and TIE Advanced. Your lack of taste in ships has been noted.

Secondly, "practically stolen" What, did you think Disney was threatening to beat George Lucas to death with the suitcases full of four ******* billion dollars he got for his 100% ownership of Lucasfilm if he chose to not sign the papers?

Seriously?

You do realize it was a hostile takeover..... the four billion came about after the takeover was started so Lucas would keep realitivily quiet about it and kinda "go away"

As long as each EPVII has a Rogue One, this IP's going to hang around a long time

Exactly how do you propose this "hostile takeover" was occurring when Lucas had 100% ownership and had been shopping for a buyer since at least 2011?

I thought Lucasfilm, Ltd. was 100% owned by George Lucas (see this article at businessinsider :http://www.businessinsider.com/disney-buys-lucasfilm-for-4-billion-2012-10) . I also thought that a hostile takeover occurs when someone (or a company) quickly and quietly acquires enough shares of a publicly traded company to obtain a controlling interest, or at least the single largest block of shares. The hostile part of the term is used when it's assumed that current majority (or plurality) shareholders are not seeking to give up their controlling interest. George had 100% ownership, so there were no publicly available shares that could be acquired at all, hence precluding the possibility of a hostile takeover. Am I missing something?

As to the original post regarding Pre-orders: no idea. Has anything been available for preorder on the FFG site before?

Easier doesn't mean right. I've enjoyed most of the things I've gotten from Disney controlled Star Wars from the two movies out so far, to Rebels on TV, books like Thrawn, and comic books like the first run of Darth Vader. Were they all perfect? No, there are flaws and ways things could have been improved. And I haven't ready everything new, so won't say that everything new in Star Wars is great. But I'm having fun with Star Wars and enjoying what's coming out.

I am very much looking forward to the TIE Silencer. I think it looks cool, has some new upgrades that look fun, and looks like a blast to fly. Now, I do feel the opposite about the Resistance Bomber. Nothing about it is getting me excited. I may even not get it entirely. But that doesn't mean others can't like or be excited for it. In fact, I encourage others who do like it to embrace and share that feeling. Just because I'm not feeling it doesn't mean others shouldn't either.

To come back around, if you don't like the new ships, then by all means, don't get them. Vote with your wallet. Get what you like. That is your right. But don't belittle others for liking what you don't. Nor bring accusations without evidence.

Where's the downvote option?

Jarjar did more damage to the IP than anything The Rat would probably muster. That was all Lucas.

What a toxic thread derailing. I'm sorry, OP. (Ironic, considering the OP's pseudonym is Drail...)

I have no idea about FFG's in distribution methods. I immediately assumed it would be a slower, more expensive way of getting ships than my FLGS so I never gave it any consideration.

Hm...how would I feel if my own creation were to deviate wildly from what I intended (and in the process were made much better), and my friends were thrown under the bus by my own decision to take lots of money instead of retaining ownership of my creation? I'd probably be blaming myself more than the people who just made a sensible business deal, honestly.

For some reason, I rather like the looks of the Bomber, while the TIE Silencer doesn't really excite me as much (though I still intend to buy one). I guess it's a good thing they have so many ships to choose from, since people can be so varying in their tastes!

On topic, I don't think the pre-order has anything to do with the release date. There are some products In Development that can be pre-ordered, while other products are On the Boat and can't be. Every category seems to have some new products that can be pre-ordered and some that can't. It would be interesting to learn what the difference is.

I hope you mean the look and not the characteristics. Silencer is basically DOA from the first preview alone.

Lukas pretty much started to ruin Star Wars with his special edition bullcrap. The Pequels are just the logical consequence. From my perspective Disneys takeover was for the better.

No dont get me wrong, Lucas was slowly tearing apart certain aspects of the interesting universe he created, for a more child friendly BS among other issues, but again, it was his to do with as he pleased, Disney on the other hand really nailed in the "Child friendly" starwars nail into the coffin though almost instantly by tearing apart the EU and other aspects that felt more orented towards the adult audience. The problem with Lucas is he let the fame go to his head, the problem with Disney is they think money can make them do anything and people will still respect you for it, good example is using Concept art of the T-65s for the T-70s, there was obviously a reason the art never maid it past the concept stage, but Disney was like, well **** that, we are to lazy or cheap to design entirely new ships, so lets use a repainted Tie Fighter, and old concept art for the x-wing, throw 4 engines together to make this "quad jumper" and then make a Imperial shuttle with a OVER 9000.....feet wing span...

If disney wanted to impress me, they would take more time to analyze what made the ot and eu great to begin with, instead of throwing it all away just to make a clone of E4, Bigger Longer and Uncut...., and then make a Anikin Skywalker clone in Ben... He almost has the same kinda issues, he is winy, except he throws tantrums against computer screens instead of sand people....

I wanna like Disney Starwars, I really do, but sadly there just isnt anything out there besides the "Ghost" that grabs my attention....

Isn't the Ghost based on concept art for the Millenium Falcon?

And Zeb is based off of McQuarrie's first drawings of Chewbacca.
