I like it @awayputurwpn not left handed , I would actually limit the upgrades, only to that target.

Yes, that was my intent.

Kinda had the chandelier-swinging in mind with Dramatic Entrance. ;)

Gotcha! Yeah, I smiled when I saw that talent. Very cool.

To be honest, it might be good to separate into Fencer and Swashbuckler, as two separate specializations?

Fencer is really too narrow a concept, IMO. It works well as an unspoken "sub-specialization" within a Swashbuckler tree (or just about any of the lightsaber trees!), but it doesn't have enough of an overarching philosophy or conceptual framework to merit its own specialization.

No lethal blows a swashbuckler is more about disarming an opponent or getting them to submit then killing them with a crit. I would say you should have a talent to disarm with a charm check or a talent that allows a negotiaton check against an almost defeated opponent to get them to surrender with a Destiny point... Like if they are 2 points before threshold or something.

Sorry for the repeat posts. Can't figure how to delete posts so ignore the dots.

Lol, talent name: Drop. Your. Sword.

Exactly what i was thinking!

And it should be followed by a talent allowing you to make a free impossible check to go from being defeated to turning the tables on the opponent.

Like someone having you at sword point and you stab them in the gut.

It can be called either "Deus Ex Machina" or "Plot Armor." You decide.

Okay.. last one, I promise..

... Inconceivable!

Loving the idea behind Drop. Your. Sword. (not to mention the name).

And, sure...Inconceivable! may have been mostly in jest, but I'm still trying to hash it out. Having trouble keeping it from being an "I win!" button, though.

I think Drop Your Sword is pretty easily handled by Scathing Tirade. Prince Humperdinck tried to match wits with Wesley, who just spent a couple rounds whittling away at the Prince's Strain. He probably had to spend a Triumph or two to keep him talking, rather than just running him through. Sure enough, in a couple rounds, he had put Humperdinck over his Strain Threshold, at which point our villain drops his blade, defeated.

Oh, you mean this gate key

Cool stuff, if I think of something I'll shout out

I was thinking about a swash buckler character and went with Martial artist. The skills don't make but i really like the pick your crit talents, to reflect making deliberately disabling strike to help. This can play in to forcing then to surrender. After you give them a extra black and purple to all attacks.

Maybe so.

But “Drop. Your. Sword.” is so much more fun a name. ;)

What if you took a page from the Diplomat sourcebook, Desperate Allies ? Or maybe Lead By Example, the Commander sourcebook? There's some really creamy narrative rules in there for certain talents, getting people to back off or believe something to be true, etc.

I know it is fun to quote princess bride, but the spec should be also fun to play.
Another spec with scathing tirade seems no fun in long term character advancement, especially that a second or third tree is not so difficult to obtain.

Creating stress when you disarm someone, seems a nice idea to overcome rivals and minions.

Prepare to die!

If you disarm an enemy with Triumph you may do stress instead of damage and add your ranks in Coercion (ignoring Soak)
