Snap Wexley?

By Npmartian, in X-Wing

His name is awesome, his ability is great, and I have no idea what to do with him. So far, I have:

Snapple Wexley

Primed Thrusters (1)

VI (1)

Black One (1)

BB-8 (2)

Autothrusters (2)

The plan is that he can move like crazy at all speeds and just... Generally be mobile and unpredictable. Fly him with a large base wingmate or two small bases. Thoughts?

Seems solid enough for Snap. Intensity might be interesting with his ability, though that does mean no Black One.

Yeah, but he gets one good use of it, and, well... I find that things that have intensity that aren't Poetensity get one use and then it's pretty useless. He has to then disengage if he wants to "recharge" it, and no ace or Nym will let him do that easily. This is a T-70 we're talking about.

Black One+VI makes his ability more useful by clearing locks AND letting him arc-dodge low PS ships.

Fair enough.

The only other thing off the top of my head is PTL, R2 Astromech, and Pattern Analyzer for three stressless actions a turn, but that would still leave you without Black One, which I agree gives good value with his ability.

Also costs a point more.

I once soloed two Jumpmasters with plasma torps using this Snap build.

Snap Wexley -- VI, R2-D2, Primed Thrusters, Black One, Autothrusters

His free boost pairs really well with regen. The Black One title is excellent. Damage output is not very good though.

You could go with the aftermath family

T-70 X-Wing: · "Snap" Wexley (28)

Veteran Instincts (1)

R2 Astromech (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

· Black One (1)

ARC-170: · Norra Wexley (29)

Push The Limit (3)

· R2-D2 (4)

· C-3PO (3)

Alliance Overhaul (0)

X-Wing: · Wedge Antilles (29)

Adaptability (Increase) (0)

R2 Astromech (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

-- TOTAL ------- 100p. --

Might not be terrible although there is no synergy, just loads of fluff ;)

Although o suggest keeping snap as cheap as possible, his ability is cool, but not worth over a third of your points

intensity, primed thrusters, AT and targeting astromech. Super fun to fly. Free boost, trigger intensity for evade an use action on focus. Or red talon roll or k-turn, TL, boost and focus from intensity. This is a super fun build, off course it does not hold a candle to the top meta broken stuff, wich is crazy to think about. A 3 actions per turn x-wing and its still best for fun lists.

I like:

Snap Wexley

-VI

-Targetting Astromech

-Patern Analyzer

-IA

So, you perform Tallon Roll and get, TL, Boost and Focus. Also, you can take Cool Hand instead of VI and get a focus too..

Stay on target, targeting Astromech, pattern analyser, integrated Astromech. I guess if you were burning points willfully you could add an advanced Proton Torpedo....

This is pretty much exactly how I used to build him, and it was the most fun I had flying an X-wing in this game. If points were tight in a list, I'd drop AT for IA, but BB8 was too much fun - and often too useful - to leave his side.

Particular favourite list was Snap as he is there, paired with Jess Pava and Norra Wexley. Jess and Norra would roll up on your biggest target together, while Snap would dive around the side and make an absolute nuisance of himself.

**** that list was fun... I should break that back out.

My snap build:

T-70 X-Wing: · "Snap" Wexley (28)
Intensity (Exhausted) (2)
· BB-8 (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Primed Thrusters (1)
-- TOTAL ------- 35p. --

Intensity give more survival. And evade, focus and autothruster block opponent target him id have others .

The PS 6, is not a problem for me.

Snap is such a fun pilot with BB-8 and, VI, Black One, IA and Primed Thrusters.

Problem is, even with the free re-positioning, he still doesn't quite cut it points-wise.

For the same 33, you'd get x7 Vessery with Trick Shot/Adaptability, who gets free TL and Evade, and we all know how that compares to 2 Agility with no access to Evade action.

Snap melts twice as fast, and his PS is just not there yet for any meaningful arc-dodging. Black One also does very little against higher PS ships, only working on TLs that weren't used in the previous round of shooting.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy playing him, but unless you find yourself facing low-PS enemies, Snap is just a slightly better T-70 dead meat for a lot of points.

P.S. Inquisitor is 31 points, lol. Just for the kicks, try him against the best Snap build you can come up with and see how he compares.

To be fair pretty much ALL the T-70 pilots have really fun abilities - Poe, Ello, Nien, Snap, Jess, Red and Blue Ace, they're all great fun to fly.

Snap is something else, though.

And four actions after a red maneuver is insanely fun if you use Pattern Analyzer instead.

I think two other aces might work as squadmates in Imperial Aces-esque fashion. Maybe Poe, Wedge, Wes Janson, Jake Farrell, Psycho Tycho as options?

Consider triple T-70s: Poe, Snap, Jess Pava or Nien Nunb, Snap, Jess Pava.

I like running Snap with Intensity and Comm Relay. Get the evade on the first round then keep moving him out wide. Keyan/Finn is throwing 4 accurate dice as a distraction. When Snap gets into position I use the tractor beam to set Snap up for a big hit

•Keyan Farlander (37) - B-Wing
Rage (1), Collision Detector (0), Tractor Beam (1), B-Wing/E2 (1), •Finn (5)

•"Snap" Wexley (35) - T-70 X-Wing
Intensity (2), •BB-8 (2), Comm Relay (3), Integrated Astromech (0)

•Kyle Katarn (28) - HWK-290
Trick Shot (0), Twin Laser Turret (6), Inspiring Recruit (1)

My Snap of choice:

(36pts) Snap w/ VI, Primed Thrusters, R5P9, Black1, Auto Thrusters

When he takes damage, and is fast enough to get out of dodge and regen up then come back into the fight.

Also like StressSnap

(34pts) Snap w/ Wired,Primed Thrusters, R3A2,Vectored Thrusters

Boosting, barrel-rolling, stress inducing T-70 with offense and defense mods.
