Destiny Dice Binders

By Piscettios, in Star Wars: Destiny

Saw the new dice binders on the front page and thought 'oh cool'. That quickly turned to disappointment as it'll hold enough dice for most any 2 decks worth of dice, but not enough for 2 decks of cards. Why?

If they were for storage only, a 1:1 ratio would make sense, but Im perplexed about this decision. Not to mention the plastic dice trays look eerily like the starter ones.

Looks like a hard pass for me... I do like all the cover art choices though!

Yeah, I too was confused by the 44 dice but only 44 sleeved card capacity. Wouldn't around 30 dice and 70 sleeved cards make more sense?

And no space to hold tokens... big fail in my opinion.

Might be something good to carry around trades.....

Because no place to store tokens are hard to justify bringing this to tournaments with your decks in them

Should have made one in the form of Darth Vader's head.

Nice but impractical. Do you really wanna display your dice, wouldn't you rather keep your cards in a (regular) binder?

I can store 3 decks worth of sleeved cards (in deck box) and dice in (in ziplock bags) along with the tokens in another ziplock inside one of those MTG fatpack boxes.

The only practical long-term option, in my opinion, is these big cardboard boxes. Each one can fit 768 (16x12x4) dice - and I’m close to filling one (since taking this picture, I moved all the cards to a binder and filled the other rows with dice)! I like to bring all my dice to events just in case someone wants to trade. This is the only way for me.

I used old baseball card boxes when I first started playing and still find them to be the best option.

I also have a box like that, that we use for all our current decks + tokens, extra sleeves etc. Extra dice and cards go in the standard single row boxes. As long as we keep things tidy(tough with a youngster that plays lol) it's easy to pull from to tweak and put together new decks.

I don't really see a better solution, tackle and art boxes are too clunky and those foam cut ones are too expensive and large. A small 300-400 count box easily holds two decks worth to travel with. Pack a few empty sleeves to pad the dice...good to go.

I use a 3,200 count card box by BCW for cards. Each row is for a set. I have the cards organized by Villain, Hero, Neutral, Battlefield, and then Characters/Legendaries. Each set of those is then sub-organized by upgrade/supports and then events. After the next set I will need to get another box sicne the 3,200 count boxes only have four rows. I then store dice in 400 count boxes by BCW but I may move them into a 900 count box at some point.

I found boxes made it difficult to keep the dice in order when I had to dig through them, and to find particular ones when they could be buried under several rows. It's nice to have the dice in fixed positions so you can locate them quickly. Yes, foam or trays tend to take up more space, but the speed and ease with which I can build a deck is worth the increased storage footprint.

Right now, the Zen Bins are the most affordable means of organization I've found that keeps the dice and cards together in an organized fashion.

I ended up going for binders for storing the my cards, Michaels photo storage box ($15 with coupon) for mass storage of dice and Home Depot HDX boxes for deck / tourney box ($15 on sale came with 4 boxes). I ended up 3D printing the character dice holder that fits in the middle section with the deck. Works great and fairly cheap.

There are good options out there.

Not having space for tokens is weaksauce. Not having space for tokens AND not having space for two decks AND having an overabundance of dice slots isn't just weaksauce, it speaks of a very poorly thought-out product. This should either have the current configuration, but a larger card compartment, or the little 9-dice space next to the card compartment should have been axed in favour of a removable token tray.

In this current incarnation, I can't figure out what the purpose of the product is.

Is it meant to store and transport your deck to events in an organized fashion? Then why all the surplus dice slots and no token space?

Is it meant to store your stuff for trade display? Then why is there no way to display cards, which are much easier to read at a glance than dice?

Is it meant to store and organize your collection? Then where do you put Neutrals, since these seem to be colour-coded according to card colours? Besides, how many of these would you need? A dozen? Two dozen? At 15$ a pop?

I like your HDX box, but it's not sold in stores and no longer available online. Looks to be a clearance item that is now completely gone. I'm assuming it's only available at Home Depot since HDX is a Home Depot brand. Do you have another source? I'd love to buy some.

They sell all kinds of them at my location in Illinois. It is sold as a bundle. In-store only for this configuration, not available online like at Amazon or on their Home Depot site. Maybe my store just has extra stock.

If it is being discontinued, I will stop in and grab some more as they make a very nice storage solution and they travel well!

This.

Safe to say, this won't be FFG's biggest seller of the year.

How I wish for a Star Wars themed dice cup.

I'd buy a decent star wars dice cup.
