Unlimited Power -- Sourcebook for Mystics

By Blackbird888, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

That would be sad. Lore is such a prefect skill for it.

I don't see them introducing a new skill in such a manner. Maybe adding it in a side bar like with Cybernetics.

Well, Lore is already a career skill for all Mystics. So as long as you're a real Mystic and not a pretender Guardian or some such ( :P ) dabbling in our mysteries, you're all set!

And while I'd agree, Swordbreaker, that's entirely what I expected first. But if the last skill is just another normal skill, why keep it quiet? Yes, I'll admit, especially with the misspelling of Resilience right there, it's possible the writer just forgot, but I prefer to delve into conspiracy :P !

Well, it's not the first time they've withheld plenty of details in the past for no clearly understandable reason. It just sounds too far out for the game design to add a new skill in such a manner.

On that note, Alchemy has some magical/fantasy connotations. I would guess, if anything, they'd make it Chemistry or something suitably Star Wars-y,

Considering the specialization is literally called the Alchemist? I doubt it :) . Alchemy in Star Wars is not just mixing chemicals, it's a Force ability that involves carefully imbuing the Force permanently into an object (or living creature) to permanently change it and/or grant it unusual supernatural powers.

And while I hear you about adding new skills, I didn't see much of a point in a Cybernetics skill; both Medicine and Mechanics fit well enough. But none of the existing skills fit the idea of imbuing the Force into objects and creatures. Sure, you can argue Lore and Discipline might fit, but alchemy is so different that they're not really appropriate, in my opinion. If anything deserves a new skill, I'd say it's alchemy.

Now, that's not to say I disagree that it's probably a long shot. But I do think it would be fitting.

Hey! New article !

It basically just confirms the species we already expected, and the numerous typos and a bit of repetition confirm this writer isn't quite as good as my friend, but! It's stuff! Not the stuff I wanted (Force powers and/or signature abilities), but stuff!

I kind of want an avian species but these will have to do :p

I am really excited for the Tholothian and the Vurk, though I am quite curious what the characteristics and stats/starting XP will be for the Tholothians. The snake-humanoids seem cool, but that low strain threshold could be rough depending on the mechanics of the meditate to heal strain ability.

I am happy there was an article...trying to remain positive. Soon enough we should have some more information! Right?

Chronicles of the gatekeeper has you covered.

Also noticed a distinct lack of miraluka. As such...dammit!

The wiki says June 30th as release date, is that... True? Since I am leaving the US on the 20th and it is difficult to get the books in Germany, that would be... Mean...

No, it's not true. An easy way to check is to ask three questions:

1) Is the book currently showing as Shipping Now status on the Upcoming page?

2) Is the release date provided a Thursday?

3) Is the release date provided the last business day of a calendar quarter?

If the answer to 1) is "yes," then the release date shown on the Upcoming page is accurate. Yay! If not, go on to the next question.

If the answer to 2) is "yes," or MIGHT be accurate, but probably isn't, unless the person reporting the date has the potential to be getting non-public information behind the scenes from FFG. Regardless, move on to question 3).

If the answer to 3) is "yes," then the person reporting the date is assuming the book will be released some time in the quarter in question, but doesn't know exactly when. In this case, the reporter is heeding their bets by providing the last possible date of that quarter. However, just because a book is expected to be released in a particular quarter doesn't mean it will be.

@Absol197 why Thursday? Is it a guarantee or is it the most likely release day?

All FFG releases (not just for the RPG, but literally all of their releases) for the past year and a half have been on a Thursday. You can go through the historical News page archive and confirm it: X-Wing, Arkham Horror (card game, board game, Eldritch variant), L5R, Netrunner, everything releases on a Thursday. So if a speculative release date is not a Thursday, it's at best a guess.

So if I were to guess all Thursday's I'd have a 50/50 chance on getting a FFG product release?

The percentage of your day taken up by this game must be terrifyingly high.

Actually, it'd be more like 95/5. When a Thursday goes by without a release of some sort, it's surprising.

Depends on how you measure it.

Soooo.... You think sooner or later than this?

I fear I know the answer

Translation: Unlimited Power is Shipping now.

Good thing I speak prophet

So what's the usual delay between shipping now and it actually arriving in stores?
