Unlimited Power -- Sourcebook for Mystics

By Blackbird888, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

That'd be interesting! I don't think we've seen a talent that does that yet, but if we get one, I'd expect it to be in the Prophet (which I'd have no problem with :D )!

But if there will be, it'll probably be a Force power.

any updates, i mean i know there's no news but other than that shipping status, rumors etc?

Nothing but baseless conjecture, I'm afraid :( .

So it could be said that this statement is baseless conjecture? ;)

I mean SOMEONE knows what's going on. They just aren't saying

If my numbers are right, we're actually in the calm before the storm, the dark just before the dawn, the metaphor before the other metaphor.

What I mean is, supposedly, things should start moving again here very quickly, so FFG is ABOUT to change things around for the better. We just haven't...gotten there quite yet, and the tension is building.

Just hope its soon, current character is a mystic.

I am actively cultivating two mystic characters >.> I have desperate need of this book :P.

It appears I've made a terrible mistake! This image? This one right here?

I've been assuming that this was the Alchemist. But it's not; I checked it again today, and it's actually the Magus. So the specialization I SHOULD be worried about having Lightsaber as a skill is the Magus!

Which...honestly, I would not be a fan of. I mean, yes, I believe I've made it abundantly clear that I would not be a fan of any of the new Mystic specs having Lightsaber, as I don't think it fits with the mystique (pun intended :P ) of the career. I mean, the Witches of Daothmir don't use lightsabers. Palpatine apparently hated them and only carried one in case he came up against a master duelist like Windu (and had entirely discarded his by the time Luke encountered him in Return).

But I was okay with the idea that the Alchemist might have it as a skill, along with some talents. Now that it's the Magus in the glowstick-crossfire, though... unhappy Phee is unhappy :( .

It'll be okay. I kinda thought this would be the case anyway. I think the only way Magus would be able to out "force" seer would be if it had 3 FP in it, or had some more things like empty soul in it that grant pips in certain conditions.

So assume they use a saber, and is not just an artist's expression, how would you like that to play into the specialization? Is there a way it could be blended more into force power usage beyond that of Niman?

Wow, Sony on a bad day exactly..... execept for the fact there's a lightsaber in her hand, she uses a classic doubleedged vibrosword! Outfit however is pretty much identical, including hairstyle

My thoughts have been confirmed!

I am mostly new to interpreting what FFG shipping dates actually mean, so I apologize if this has already been explained. I see that Dawn of Rebellion was originally Q4 of 2017, but is now Q1 of 2018. It also looks like it was updated to be "On the Boat" on the same day Unlimited Power was. However, this book is still set for Q2? Will they hold on to it so they can stagger their content release? Or does being on the boat the same day really not mean that much. All the books won't be on the exact same boat and the Dawn of Rebellion boat could have left sooner.

We're not sure. This sort of backlog hasn't really happened before. We had something similar in 2015, but it wasn't nearly this backed up.

We've only had once instance of two books coming out on the same day, back in August of 2014. The next couple of times multiple books were released super close together (November of 2015 with three books, and March of 2016 with two), the books were staggered for one release per week. So that's what I'm expecting will happen this time, too.

The order that they'll release them, however, is anyone's guess at this point. My personal guess is that they'll release them in the order they were announced, so Fully Operational, Cyphers and Masks, Dawn of Rebellion , and then finally Unlimited Power . So if that's true, best-case scenario gets FO released on the 15th, Cyphers on the 22nd, Dawn on March 1, and Unlimited Power (!!!11!) not out until March 8 :( . But the delay has been so huge at this point that they may double-up on two books for once, just to get them out and start getting some revenue back in.

We'll have to wait and see. Hopefully we'll see movement this Wednesday or Thursday; six weeks is the mode for boating time (although the mean has slipped up to nine weeks (~64.22 days) since the whole Ghosts of Dathomir debacle).

????yay???? I guess, if they have to stagger them that's the order I'd prefer. The timing on when.books get to my FLGS is off by a day in the direction that I have to wait 6 extra days, so I can have the two I want most in time for my birthday.

I would like to have them all at once being we have been waiting so long. but I am expecting them to be staggered, i don't want them to be staggered but that's what they are going to do.

We still need more blog posts about Unlimited Power however to really learn about the force and how it connects to certain items, ships, and gear. If its a new mechanic i am very excited to read about it. Having some sort of guideline on crafting a blaster that is tied to the force would be great.

Fingers remain crossed for possible Miraluka. But, well, I guess we'll see

Weren't the miraluka extinct by the time of the galactic civil war? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm down for some miralukas.

Whether they were or not, we currently have fairly strong evidence for the species in this book being the tholothians, thispissians, and vurk. So Miraluka are unlikely.

I will say that I'm not super-excited for this species line-up, though. Probably the one aspect of this book in not super-stoked about :) . I wouldn't mind some kind of shake-up of the species. I just doubt it.

When do you think we will get the Zeltron? Warrior? That would be a Weird place to put them.

I was hoping we'd get them here! But it's not looking like it. I seriously doubt we'll get them in the Warrior book. Maybe the third Edge region book?

What has you so set on those three races you mentioned? We haven't seen much art from this book so there isn't much to go by?

Dawn of Rebellion would point to the possibility of other era books, Zeltron could go in one of those.

First, the image that overlays the title page for Chapter 1 of the book is the tholothian lady deflecting the blaster bolt. You know, Chapter 1, the one with the species? It would be very weird if they introduced an image of a species that you can't play as for the intro image for that chapter. It's important to note that art isn't 100% at predicting species, but it is very high.

Also, in the section of the announcement article talking about equipment, thisspiasians and vurk (as well as their home planets) are mentioned multiple times. And you don't often see equipment designed for or by specific species in books unless that species is in that book. For instance, the only place Verpine shatter rifles are mentioned and statted is in Strongholds of Resistance . So vurk meditation orbs, Semblan obsidian daggers (Sembla being the vurk homeworld), thisspiasian puzzle rings, tholothian heartwood hilt lightsaber attachments, thisspiasian stabilizing coils lightsaber attachments...all of these thing are pointing strongly towards those species playing a large part in this book.

Then there's this:

Quote

The Force has always guided civilizations as they developed, and many cultures understood their relationship to the Force through mysticism. The Tholothians are able to glimpse the Living Force through their Hometrees while the Thisspiasianshave deeply integrated their pomp and ceremonies with the Force.

That's from the announcement article. Are you gonna try and tell me that all those mentions of Tholothians and Thisspiasians aren't hinting fairly strongly at something :) ?

True, the announcement article does make mention of sith infusing swords with the Force, but as far as I know in canon, the sith are extinct, so it wouldn't make sense for them to show up here. There are multiple mentions of the other species in the article, including actual mechanical things (items), which strongly points to them. The one that I think is the weakest argument is the vurk, but with two mentions in the announcement article, I still think they're likely.
