Technically we don't know that we're getting Alchemical crafting in this book yet. We only know that we're getting one specialization called the Alchemist. While there's a good chance, seeing as most crafting systems appear in the book with the related spec (armor crafting with the Armorer, cybernetics and droids with the Cyber Tech and Droid Tech, ship crafting with the Shipwright), we technically still don't know for sure.

If only they'd give us a preview article to confirm it :P !

At least you all know your book is coming. Feelsbadman.

If Alchemist turns out to be our crafting spec, I'm going to be super happy I haven't tapped those two Dedication talents yet. I'm going to need some Intellect for those Mechanics checks...

I have a feeling that, if alchemy is a crafting-type thing in this book, the skill it's linked to probably isn't Mechanics. I'd bet either Discipline, Knowledge (Lore), or as a longshot, Medicine.

My personal bet, and the one I'm hoping for, is Lore. I know a certain Togruta Mystic who would love to be able to weave mystical energy into objects...

And I know a Certain Nautolan Doctor who would be happy to use those rules to break bad (It did mention creating medicines AND poisons in the article after all).

I had that feeling too, but all are linked to Intellect, so I'm still going to have to dump two Dedication into that. I'm secretly hoping they specialise in liquids and energies rather than mechanical objects. I kind of love the idea of being a specialist in synthesising unusual liquids that have effects from healing and ability boosts, to paralysis and amnesia.

I suspect you are right about it being lore. I could see it being a willpower-lore check.

Hope it’s not int based as that would spread us over 3 stats

"Unlimited Power introduces new weapons, armor, gear, equipment, vehicles, and starships that are either tied to the Force directly or frequently used by Mystics and their fellow adventurers."

"Many less benign societies have successfully bent the Force to more violent ends; the Sith were known to --infuse-- swords with the power of the dark side, for instance. Weapons like a "lucky" blaster or Semblan Obsidian Dagger could put the Force in the hands of an average smuggler or soldier."

These are quoted off the release article page.

I translated this into some sort of ability or mechanic to put the force into any item which is a form of force crafting in my mind. It can at least give us a lot of examples of how to tie the force into items that then have direct game play impacts. I know its not Alchemical stuff which should have been introduced with the Dathomir book being they did it quite a lot it seems.

Does anyone know when this book will be released?

Thanks for the assist, Dae :) !

Specifically, this Trends, Statistics, and Predictions thread ! It's where I collect all the currently available data and attempt, occasionally successfully, to predict when the upcoming books will be available to the masses! It's quite fun! Stop on by!

For Unlimited Power (!!!11!1!) specifically, I'm currently predicting a release date of March 15. This is based on the current average time for boating and shipping of a new book, plus the (admittedly unproven) assumption that FFG will not want to release four new books on the same day, and so will stagger the releases, most likely to release the books in the order they were announced. Hopefully we'll get it earlier, however! Ni Fang has an in with a game store run by family, and she's hearing through the secret grapevine that it could be mid-February!

...... Still here

If it makes you feel any better, Armada players have been waiting since August just for that preview article, and it only told us two things we didn't already know from the announcement article. Seems like FFG have been drawing out the time between updates on the products lately.

Oof! I feel 'ya :( .

Hopefully things will change around for both of us soon!

So, in order to while away the time, I was thinking we could make guesses at what skills the new specs will have?

For the Alchemist, I'm guessing that we'll definitely have Medicine, and possibly Lore and Lightsaber. But even if those are all in, I'm not sure what the fourth skill might be.

For the Prophet (yay Prophet!), I'm certain that it'll have Leadership, and most likely Charm, but it might also have Lore (again), but I'm still not sure on the other(s).

And aside from Lore and probably Discipline, I have no idea for the Magus.

Alchemist could do with a Rank in Vigilance, that seems like something they would need to be good at.

Prophet could have some oddball skill such as Outer Rim. Perception would also be very fitting.

Magus; Coercion? They are potentially frightening individuals. Perhaps Cool.

It's not unusual for Armada. We're used to going most of a year without an article, so 4-5 months is relatively brisk. X-wing has the other problem; the releases arguably come so thick and fast that you can't keep up and never really get to fully experiment before the new hotness arrives.

So for Alchemist, I'm thinking Medicine, Discipline, Knowledge (Education), and maybe Perception? Alchemists would surely have had to study their craft and have an eye for detail. I'd put a shout in for Resilience replacing Discipline there too, as most chemical effects in the game are Resilience checks, and an Alchemist is bound to have picked up some resistance to what they work with... right?

The Prophet I can see having Perception as I imagine there's some talent in there that allows force dice to be added to perception checks. Leadership and Charm tally for me there, too. After that, Negotiation? Could also be the Lightsaber tree, which would make for some interesting characters based around Sense and Misdirect/Influence.

The Magus I'm guessing is going to have the biggest force power emphasis, so probably Discipline. After that, it could be anything, but I'm guessing they might take this a kind of darker route? Vigilance and Coercion perhaps? Maybe even Deception?

I would love for the FAD to have this problem. I love that they crank stuff out for X-wing I think we had 11 or so ships in 2017. That's not even counting the new cards. Lots of content to digest and have fun with.

I think most of this is probably pretty close :) . I would point out that Farsight already allows you to add Force Dice to your Perception and Vigilance checks. I know this because my iconic character's main thing is perceptive ability, so it's the very first Force power she went for :D .

Influence let’s you add Force Dice to Leadership checks... but so does Enhanced Leader. The difference is Influence is an action all on its own, Enhanced Leader isn’t, its Passive, so it can be used with Field Commander!

Really there no need for that though with Negotiation since there’s very few Action talents that use Negotiation.

Oh, good point. I still reckon there's room for Perception (or maybe Vigilance) talents with that style of character though. Maybe more in a passive style, but I feel like it's at least a little thematic. I'm hoping for all three levels of Inspiring Rhetoric to be in there for that reason too.

I was just mentioning Negotiation as a potential as I can see the Prophet being a talky character. It might step on the toes a bit of the Arbiter tree, but it'd be a shame if that style (if it even was that style) didn't have a rank or two of Congenial, which might point toward having both Charm and Negotiation available.

I agree Negotiation would be good, and charm too, but those are really well covered by the Advisor

I can see links to the agitator tree for prophet

My issue is that with armada they are designing an actual model. So therein lies relevant construction issues. So building something for that makes sense.

We are talking about a book here. That's meant to be coming out within a couple of months. (maybe three absol I hear ya)

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect an article by now.
