A thought on a Bullseye mod card

By Ralgon, in X-Wing

A point on the Kimogllia thread got me thinking.....would it be broken to give bullseye as a 0 point mod to 2 red small base ships?

makes swarms and filler ships slightly more relevant, without creating huge monsters for cheap. I realise it's more dice creep, but we're long past that point for the humble tie/z95 offensively.

The problem there is the cardboard, I love the idea but they'd have to get us new baseplates for every 2 red small base with this mod so we can accurately measure it. (I'm not convinced its the width of the maneuver guides.)

maybe. The c-roc is precedent that they can make it work if they wanted to and use the front guides anyway.

Or something like a transparent overlay with the arc printed on it. Could work for PTW to mobile fire arcs also.

WOuldn't need to be transparent, just something that slots into the front of the base could do.

But it would be fiddly and inaccurate, so I doubt that they would.

I'm also super disappointed that Bullseye wasn't on the Silencer. It would fit the fluff of the thing well and could have lent it some added interest.

There's a possibility of using the gap where you put the squad numbers on the base, so that it won't move.

yes, that's what I mean.

Is not the bullseye area exactly the same size of a movement template?

Probably wrong, but looks like.

Hey, if the Silencer doesn't get the Missiles the official databank entry says it has, why have the bullseye?

But an elite talent that provides an bullseye arc could be done by a cardboard overlay, similar to the mobile arc, but in a trapezoid shape that replaces the ships firing arc. Call it pinpoint accuracy. I think the bullseye as an upgrade would be exceptional, and be worth the price - if you had to decide between veteran instincts and getting bullseye arc.

I can rarely see a situation at the moment where I would take Bullseye over VI even for a point, but hopefully that'll shift soon.

Not even on an Arc dodger like Soontir Fel? I would love it on Turr Phenir - get in close, deny tokens, then barrel roll out arc.

The problem is more that the really scary things you see at the moment tend to be 8-10 hit point ships with relatively low agility - defensive tokens are therefore not the biggest deal.

The Bullseye arc is nice, but the reason the Killergorilla will be nasty (if it is) is that it has multiple things which all trigger off the Bullseye arc - the base Bullseye Arc rule plus the Enforcer title plus the PS8 pilot pilot's ability.

I think they should have just make it the actual size of the nubs and used the 5 forward template (Range 2) and stated, if attacked by a enemy and in the Bullseye weapons arc. The attacker may force the defender to re-roll one of your evade or focus Results, which cannot be re-rolled.

This makes it useable, but not OP. This would help alot for pushing damage through, but right it's crazy good. So giving it to any other ship, beside one with a bad dial would be a bad Idea.

Trust me, if you wanted no castles in X-wing, this ship just made it more likely. Stay in the corner with your Bullseye Arc and don't move, with 3 you can cover the board, just keep bumping, because now you don't need mods. I cannot believe much like NYM that FFG didn't think of this. It's showing more and more how they are losing touch with the competitive game.

Find me an arc dodger that isn't welded to PTL and/or VI, and maybe we'll talk ;) Vader might use it I guess.

true, but not having their focus or evade tokens gives a 2 red a much better change of actually putting (admittedly minimal) pressure on them rather than just being a blocker
