Mostly playing privately with friends, which is always fun. But I know a couple places where I could go to find more Players, so I can't see anything dying, really.

Gotta say that Shadespire has my mind occupied quite a bit these days - it's so similar to X-Wing with model count and game length, but it avoids many of the flaws X-Wing has by using objectives for scoring, using set damage, and lessening the impact of potentially problematic cards by not having them availiable at all times. Of course it also is very different using the hex-tiled game board instead of a free tabletop and having an LCG element, but I am not opposed to switching it up a bit.

I even have a few little draft format in mind for when I'm only playing with one core set but want to get competetive anyways. All generic cards get shuffled and each player draws twice as many of them as the default decks contain (or less if there aren't enough). Same happens for the faction cards. Then both players build their decks.

Or all cards get shuffled (keeping objectives and powers seperated ofc), both players get at least as many cards as are needed for two decks and build one for each faction, then having to play both.

Or cards get separated into boosters, but that's not all that different from the former method.

I'm very excited to see which of these even work with the core game content and how the game plays out in general.

Fortunately the VASSAL league is there to remind me that X-Wing can be great, too!

Amen! I'm really glad I signed up, because this game is awesome!

But I did buy into Runewars, and I'm loving that, too. I never did a full hobby miniatures game before, and I'm loving painting all my skeletons and necromancers (and giant worms). We have a league going where you can schedule your games, which has been really nice. By the end of this month, I'll have missed 5 consecutive X-wing nights because my Fridays are spoken for. Makes me sad.

You guys are crazy. X-Wing is awesome! There’s so much variety and I virtually only play Rebels. Maybe you guys who are bored with it have short attention spans. 25 years ago I was introduced to attletech and I still play it.
