Use of Engine Techs after Demolisher errata

By Jimble, in Star Wars: Armada

With the errata that Demolisher has to use its ability for making an attack after movement, but before using Engine Techs, do you think the following be brought into line or have a blanket statement that upgrades that allow you to do something after your movement happens before you use Engine Techs so FFG don't have to errata multiple cards and the rule would be there for future upgrades that happen after movement.

I am including Quantum Storm in this as well as its ability is similar to Engine Techs.

Upgrades are

  • Flight Commander (because of Rapid Launch Bays)
  • Slicer Tools (because of Quantum Storm)
  • Fighter Coordination Team (I know there is currently no ship with dual Support Team slots, but will happen one day)

If I've missed any other upgrades, I apologize, but you get the general idea. My thought is there should be a blanket rule for ease and fairness, but will willingly abuse the **** out of Fighter Coordination Team and Engine Techs if it became a thing (how far have those B-Wings travelled? :D)

Do you guys think upgrades like these should be used before Engine Techs or take each upgrade individually on a case by case?

I think it should be case by case, and that Demo was a one-off due to it's almost universal presence.

The interesting part of Fighter Coordination Team and Engine Techs is it doesn't actually really provide any benefit over doing it without it, other than what each gives themselves individually...

Case by case. Demo was a specific build, that required a harsher retcon... Especially after they decided to cut off poor Major Rhymer's balls!

Demo was not a clarification. It was an errata. The rules about simultaneous effects are still relevant so in order to modify any other similar effect they have to write 1 errata per effect... or 1 errata of RRG.

Exactly. Demo wasn't them making a ruling on an interaction, they actually retroactively changed the card text itself to specifically prevent that interaction from taking place. There's no reason to believe that other abilities that might function on the same principle wouldn't work.
