Rebels out of meta

By Ninotik, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi piltots

I'm going to a tournament this saturday and i'm expecting to meet lot of miranda and nym (both rebel and scuum) stuff. I usually play rebels. I'm thinking on this build:

YT-2400: · Eaden Vrill (32)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Smuggling Compartment (0)
· Rey (2)
Rigged Cargo Chute (1)
Y-Wing: Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
· R3-A2 (2)
BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0)
Y-Wing: · "Dutch" Vander (23)
Flechette Torpedoes (2)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Targeting Astromech (2)
-- TOTAL ------- 100p. --

The key is to keep eaden throwing 4 full modified red dices. I think i can manage without the outrider title but i would appreciate some ion damge help. The problem is if i equip dutch with the ion turret, my damage output suffers.

I've tried dutch with TLT and it's sweet but high ps with reposition makes me bite the dust i've my manuvers aren't perfect so that's the reason to move to ion turret despite it only works at range 1-2.

What do you think about it? Any idea or improve? I like the out of meta style.

Meta or not, one of the best parts of the 2400 is the title that gives you a 360 degree cannon. Without it, the ship just feels kinda weak. Vrill attacks before your gold squadron pilot, so, his ability is mitigated unless your opponent is stressing himself. I think I would rather take the generic pilot and try to move points around to get the outrider title.

I think I would remove the BTL-A4. I know it gives you a second attack to stress them again, but with 1 stress their movement is limited the same as 2. With the Ions you're hitting another, I would prefer the wider range of my stress bot. With 3-360 arcs you can use it spread them, or group tight based on opponent. The only way I'd keep it is if I made some room for Vectored Thrusters or EI on it. Especially since TLT's are only 2-3.

I'd try to find a way to upgrade that Gold Squadron Pilot to a Grey Squadron. Having them attack before Eaden Vrill would be useful. At very least, remove the Flechette Torpedoes to upgrade the other Y-Wing from PS2 to PS4.

I guess Dutch is there to give target locks to the other Y-Wing? I'm not exactly sure how strong that is. Eaden has Rey for tokens for the HLC, so can take Target Locks once you get into combat, so just the Y-Wing would really be gaining. And both the Y-Wing 2-dice primary or a single TLT shot don't gain too much from that. Perhaps Vrill needs to barrel roll more often, and could use the target locks, but I just don't like how expensive Dutch is.

An alternative build which is kinda similar would be to drop both Y-Wings, and take a stressbot Braylen Stramm (R3-A2 and either Gunner or Tactician), with Biggs (R4-D6). Eaden remains the same. You'd have the same double-mod HLC front-facing, with Braylen able to shoot first to stress targets for Eaden's primary if they slip out of arc.
