Hello everyone,

We play 2 player scenarios and are not sure whether or how the keyword surge resolves during the quest phase when it's on the FIRST card revealed from the encouter deck. We play it as if the second card revealed from the encouter deck was the card revealed by surge effect (which is beneficial for us since it would be revealed anyways as we are 2 players). If the second card revealed has surge keyword, we then reveal third card from the encounter deck as normal.

So my question is - do we play it wrong when we basically ignore the surge keyword on the first card revealed? Should we, if the first card has surge keyword, reveal the total of 3 cards from the encounter deck?

Yup, each Surge keyword is meant to reveal an extra card, regardless of whether it was the first or second reveal. The cards you would have revealed anyway don't fulfill the Surge keyword.
