Showcase : YT-2400

By Barry Harker, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Greetings Everyone.

Its been a while since we had a Showcase article.

So while Piscopas is busy, I will carry on with them for a while and keep the ball rolling.

I am a big fan of these showcase articles as it is a great way to see everyone's work and various interpretations of a single ship design.

And inspire each other with all of the different takes and gorgeous paint schemes.

the Showcase articles were also very popular in the first version of the painting Forum before it got taken down for a while.

So I thought I would start with a very popular model,

The Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-2400 Light Freighter.

I remember this model was very popular at one stage in the painting forums.

So come on, lets see all those wonderful repaints of a popular Freighter :D

I will start of by putting in a two of my YT-2400.

Firstly a simple Re-paint by just adding a touch of weathering with pencils !

And a full custom build with some scratchbuilt extras and some kit bashing to make a Scum YT-2400

All the best,

Nicely Done Nail :D

Great alternate panel working with the different shades of blue

"Slipstream" Would that be a reference to a Certain film starring Mark Hamill ?

Great job,

All the best,

Barry.

Here's my entry:

Not too crazy, but just wanted to add some color.

Red goes faster, right?

So pretty!

One of my rougher repaints. I may retouch the side cockpit/Engine pod thingy some day.

Red is a popular choice!

I've yet to field it on the tables. It's been simulations only so far.

That 'nose art'!

Simply jaw-dropping!!

Have you ever executed either version of the Andrasta art?

My take on a YT-2400 in classic rebel colours

Edited by benlane17

I just realised I never put this here:

One of the kids bought a YT2400. I fabricated a rotating "bowtie"-firing-arc:

Unfortunately no work-in-progress-pics.

But I carefully twisted the cannons off, drilled a hole straight through the hull.

I put a wooden axle in, glued the cannons on again onto the rod's both ends, 180deg offset of each other - voila, working rotating indicator on the ship.

Strictly spoken not a repaint, I know. I encourage my children to test repainting themselves. This one was actually repainted by the respective child. In an "interesting" choice of colour and pattern, which I of course complimented, but I will not show it here :)

Now that the ship got a point discount, maybe it finally will be worth to be fielded again for the first time in 2nd ed. And the child might strip and repaint.

My yt-2400. Just need to do the cockpit glass at some point.
