Valen Rudor against TLT

By IG88E, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I know there are one or two threads over a year ago, but since the ruling was changed I wanted to ask again:

Is he allowed to make a free action after the first salvo of TLT? And then again after the second?

I know that it doesn't matter when Valen would boost out of weapon range.

After both shots. Per the timing chart in the FAQ about a year ago.

Valen Rudor card text: "After defending, you may perform a free action."

Valen Rudor's ability triggers "After Defending", which takes place in Step 8 of the "Timing Chart for performing an Attack". This is after both attacks from any "weapon that says 'Perform this attack twice' So he would only get one free action after both attacks were completed.

Thanks for the answers!

FAQ entry on Valen Rudor says only once:

" When defending against a secondary weapon that says “perform this attack twice,” the player controlling Valen Rudor can use his ability only once, and only after the second attack"

Poor Val got nerfed the same time that BT Kavil and a particular Trash-tromech. All thanks to the timing chart. Yay. So OP.
