Amazon says it will be available on the 30th of March, why would it take so long?

We don't currently know when the release date is going to be. The Amazon listing is probably just a placeholder date and is not a reliable indication of when it will be available.
Amazon listing also happens to be a third party marketplace. Which might explain the incorrect date ( spr 2018 ).
Pretty common for stores to have placeholder dates. Look at video games that are planned to release next year without an official date. They will often be listed as December of that year.
October 17 seems crazy soon for something we've seen so little of. Time for them to start blitzing with previews!!

What does that mean ?
That FFGs printing partners, probably located somewhere in China, are making the games components and assembling all the contents in boxes.
So at least a couple of months to go.

It means that the design has been finalized and the manufacturer is currently assembling the first shipment. It does not mean anything definite as far as release date, but they did say they planned on releasing it sometime in the 4th Quarter of this year and it bodes well for release before the end of the year.

Available November 12th on Amazon
It would be nice if we got it November 12th but I'm doubtful. I think we would have heard a little more about the game if it was coming out so soon.
Man, I hope it comes out before the Thanks Giving Holiday in the United States. It would be very nice to battle out some Fallout Board Game when all the friends are around.
