Quickdraw vs Jostero Version 2

By JcDemented, in X-Wing Rules Questions

-Jostero have initiative
-Quickdraw, moves, uses electronic baffle, lose his second shield, (only one shield remaining), Jostero's ability triggers, he hits and kill quickdraw.

1.-Quickdraw can hit Jostero before he left the table?
2.-Quickdraw can't hit jostero because his ability is not after Attack

If "Quickdraw" loses a shield token during an attack, the ability triggers during step 9 of the "Timing Chart for Performing an Attack" on page 8.

Since Step 9 is before any destroyed ships are removed (Step 10), Quickdraw would still get an attack.

Now if Quickdraw lost his last shield with Electronic Baffle and the player with Jostero had initiative, I'm not entirely sure what would happen. Both Jostero's ability and Quickdraws ability would be triggered by electronic baffle, but Quickdraw would be destroyed before he had a chance to fire.

i think that quickdraw would be destroyed if he baffle his last shield and jostero have iniciative

Using the Corran v Corran ruling as precedent, Quickdraw should stick around long enough to use his (already triggered) ability before being removed.

but quickdraw, works diferent, is't ability doesnt trigger in a phase, triggers when he lose a shield.
quickdraw baffle his last shield, Jostero hits quickdraw, kill quickdraw, in this atack QD doesnt lose a shield he lost his oportuniti, he die
it's diferent in case, that QD baffle his second shield, Jostero attack, QD lost his last shield in the attack, now he can hit, even if he is dead

Both pilots have a trigger that allow combat outside of the combat phase activation. The trigger may be different, but there is no reason the behavior wouldn't be the same.

1. Two opposing ships are triggered for out of combat attack simultaneously.
2. The ship with initiative attacks and kills the other ship.
3. The other ship gets to complete his triggered attack.

Once triggered, the ability will resolve, would be my guess.

It's something that theoretically could ome up now anyway, if for instance QD takes a Proxy Mine, loses her last shield then takes hit direct hit.

X Wing doesn't generally let things trigger, then not resolve.

From the FAQ:

If a player has simultaneous effects that resolve from the same trigger, that player resolves the entirety of one effect (and any subsequent effects from that trigger) before resolving the others. For example, if a ship overlaps multiple cluster mine tokens at the same time, the controlling player resolves one of the cluster mines (rolling for damage and removing it) before resolving any remaining effects (even if the ship was already destroyed).

Going by that, since the baffle was part of your maneuver, you're already resolving an effect string for QD and QD should finish all abilities triggered by this effect. I know the example uses bombs, but I think it would also imply that all effects would trigger, including all attacks, even after the point that QD is destroyed. I know this next example isn't possible, but if QD had gunner as well and missed her attack, that would also be part of the string of effects resulting from the trigger of her first attack and would come before Jostero's attack. At least, that is how I would interpret this situation.

I would imagine the sequence of events would be: QD reveals maneuver , performs maneuver and gets stress (begins string of events that trigger effects), baffles stress off and loses a shield, triggers attack and end's string. QD's attack would resolve, Cap'n Jostero's attack triggers from previous damage but couldn't interrupt QD who also had the same trigger, Cap'n Jostero's attack is resolved. In the event that QD lived, she would then continue on with taking her action for the turn and into the combat phase if no other ships were left.

I believe this is the order that would occur regardless of initiative because the initial trigger for QD was gaining the stress, which occurred before the damage trigger for Cap'n Joster's attack.

Using @thespaceinvader 's example above with the mines, QD would move over the mines and take damage, losing a shield and being destroyed in the process. While this can't be interrupted, after the mine is resolved but before QD is removed, both her pilot ability and Jostero's would trigger, granting an attack to the player with initiative first. If QD had initiative, she would get her attack and it would be resolved. In the event that Jostero would be destroyed by this attack, his ability was still triggered before that fact, so he would get a shot full of spite and anger at the already soon to explode QD.

100% agree.
