The new Last Jedi ships go a fair distance in fixing this problem.
But if we get more waves of unrecognisable ships then the game will die.

It's already this time of the week again, at troll'o'clock? I would not have realized

I prefer that the devs pick obscure (but unique and interesting) Legends ships than to use those knockoffs of the Sequel trilogy - specially if they are pushed to release them tie-in with the movies (meaning rushed, with the wrong stats, scale and without real named pilots).
Nope, the lack of "movie ships" will, on the contrary, save the game.
EDIT: Repaints/Ace packs (like Blue Squadron and/or Partisan X-Wing) are interesting at this point, as they can bring back the most known (OT) ships to the table (and meta).
EDIT2: Another good source of ships is the Prequel Trilogy. Rebel N-1 Starfighter, Imperial V-Wing and Scum Vulture Droid could add new life to the game (and still keep it recognizable).
Edited by OdananYeah, the game has already had so many unrecognizable ships and look at how DEAD it is
Deader than a bombed soontir
For the record, I'm fine with any ship so long as the model is beautiful as always and it is fun to play (and therefore not a turret)

So...if they only pick completely wingless designs from now on? ![]()
He is spot on though, I mean last time we had 30 years before we got new on screen ships and the game just barely made it through.
You think we get that lucky again?

Except for the turret comment, I agree with you.

Once the Gunboat is released non of this is relevant as it will single handedly keep X-Wing alive for eternity!
Edited by VeldrinI have noticed the casual X-wing players are nowhere to be found at the store I frequent. Its only the hardcore tourney goers left. A couple of waves back you would see a lot more casual players come and go but now they don't show up anymore.
I would be very happy if they just slowed down the release of waves, or just have less ships in those waves.
My problem is that they just don't seem to be playtesting enough or giving enough throught to warping the meta in favour of their brand new ship.
Although.. with my tin foil hat on it could be that they are intentionally making the latest ship the very best thing ever, just to boost sales for it.. the amount of jumpmasters and scurrgs that have been bought recently must be quite a bit....

You need to find a better store.

Repeating the chant since Wave 3. Still going strong.

I'm guessing that has more to do with your "hardcore tourney goers" than the ships in the wave.

You mean right around the time Rogue One was in the theatre? Yes, I noticed. Give it a couple months and I bet you will see more casual players. Say December 15th.
Edited by JadotchThe X-Wing scene is going strong around here. The game is good; Star Wars is a lasting franchise. I don't see significant problems any time soon.

"Unrecognizable" is an overused term on this forum. I knew the Jumpmaster on sight, despite it not being in a movie. The gunboat isn't in a movie, but it has a thriving and active fan base on this forum. Something being recognizable is a subjective term that people try to use universally.
And no, the slow inflow of new ships from movies isn't gonna kill the game. There are other outlets for new designs (comic books, shows, maybe future video games) and still a plethora of Legends ships that would work in the game.
Since Revell has revealed 2 A-wing from episode 8 (one blue, one red) now I want this just like a Imperial Aces... ![]()
I'll take any movie-featured ship over something from the old Legends EU any day of the week (and it's bizarre to me to whinge about knockoff designs of the new movies when the EU thrived on the same style of knockoffs, just see all the TIE variants for instance, which we already have too may of in this game).
But this game doesn't need new ships anyway - it already has way too many - it needs variations on the gameplay. It needs narrative, it needs missions, it needs objects, it needs co-op mode.
As mentioned there's a ton of on-screen prequel and clone wars ships to add to the game yet.
Is anyone dismayed at the name of the new bomber B/SF-17? Out of the entire production crew they couldn't think of a less well known name than B-17?
Edited by Ken at SunriseCurrent development will kill it before lack of ships.

Not really. Wave 7 wasn't even bottom of the barrel. And there's also rebels stuff to pull from now to.

I would think at some point, before it dies, they will reboot. How, I'm not sure. But it does make sense.
A poorly done 2.0 would easily kill it off.
I wouldnt trust the current vision even if it went 2.0.
