arms, armour, and equipment compendium

By Chomann2000, in Rogue Trader House Rules

I'm putting together an arms, armour, and equipment compendium a sort of cheat sheet for my gaming group similar to the index at the end of the inquisitors handbook but containing all gear from the books containing only the info tables and had a few questions
#1 would it be legal to post it on these series of tubes we call the internet?
#2 if so is there a limit on what i can put in if I post it on the internet?
#3 if it is OK to where should i put it?
#4 is there anything i need to put into it as in credits or anything?
i don't exactly know if this is the place to ask this but anyone that could answer these questions would be much appreciated

1) Technically, yes, as long as it is only like the cheat sheet at the back of IH, not with the descriptions and everything.

2) As said before, just the cheat sheet, none of the descriptions and stuff. That would mean putting most of the book out for free online.

3) Well, (not meaning to be bigheaded) but Dark Reign caters to many dozens of downloads for Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader. You are more than welcome to put it up on our site (the link is in my sig)

4) Yea, you should put the credits for FFG and GW in there, just to cover yourself legally. We all know how.... "active" GW can be in protecting their Intellectual Property gui%C3%B1o.gif lengua.gif

My starship compendium has a 2 page "Starship Combat" cheat sheet. As far as I can tell, it's completely legal. I did put in an entire page of legal disclaimers, just in case! I was really looking forward to sending that to Dark Reign today, but my computer ate the final draft...grr!

Anyway, that's what I want! Just the game mechanics, ma'am. If I need a description, I'll look in the book, but it would be really handy to have an arms and armor cheat sheet.

If you are taking suggestions I'd much like page references for the gear. Perhaps not that important now but when they release more stuff in more books it's going to be essential, at least to me.

well I was planing on putting in weapons, armor, gear, cybernetics, drugs and consumables, tools, ammunition, and unusual ammo with exactly what is said on the tables with extra columns for the price in Dark Heresy (if there is any) and the book and page reference for the rules

I was also thinking about putting the ships and their components in it although that might be better in a stand alone "Starship and Components Compendium" y/n? opinions?

oh yes I asked FFG about a week ago and still havent heard a response about my questions, is that usual or should i send another?

I would say no to that amount of stuff, as that would be replicating a huge amount of the rulebook, which would likely break fair use laws.

well it would only be the tables and a page reference so you would still need the book to see what it did

Still, with the sheer amount of what you want to cover, it's still on the border of what is allowable.

For your personal use, it's fine. For distributing online, not so much.

so you think it would go to far to do the spacecraft thing or the gear thing or both?

It would honestly come down to how much GW/FFG let you do. The reason FFG are likely taking a while is because that question would have to be referred to their legal people.

I sure hope FFG will accept.

A compendium would be extremely useful. There is so much amazing gear, weapons, armor etc. in all these books. It's tough to keep count.

Now where is the description of that darn Grav-Flux Harness?

Honestly, what I'd like to see is bare-bones facts (that is, damage, penetration, type) and a page reference. I think this would be acceptable if you stuck with weapons and armor.

There is a lot of cool stuff, but it's spread out over ...how many books? 3? 4?

I think my Starship compendium will slip by because it's mostly original material. My 2 page cheat sheet doesn't give descriptions, only what rolls need to be made and/or a page number for easy reference.

well the info is going to be as follows

weapons: name, class, range, rof, damage, pen, clip, reload, special, kg, availability, DH price, and book/page number

armor: name, covered, AP, kg, availability, DH price, and book/page number

other gear: name, availability, DH price, and book/page number

and that will be it (of course I will edit out the stuff FFG wants me to)

Well, I wouldn't mind getting a copy of that for personal use. I have all the books and i know it's a real pain in the ars to find something that one of my characters bought, but he/she didn't read fully on what it did.
