Help Required

Hey gang. Before I go too far, I will admit that this list has 2 jumpmasters in it. Why, because I bought 2 expensive ships and want to fly them. I own 2...never a third and do not want one. So I am looking for a third ship to fill the list. Here's what I have:

X2 Contracted Scouts with --Attanni Mindlink, Plasma Torps & EM, K4 Security Droid, Unhinged Astro, Guidance Chips.

That takes me to 70 points. What would you folks recommend for a third ship? I guess I should push for Attanni Mindlink for the most bang for my buck. Thoughts?

Once guns for hire drops ....

Talonbane Cobra could fit there with a mindlink and title at 28 points. Season last two points to taste.

If initiative doesn't matter to you, you can throw old Teroch in at 30 points even instead with mindlink, Autothrusters and title.

4-LOM with FCS and mindlink is also 30 points even. The elite g1a generic is a point less so you can put something else on it if you want too.

We have reason to believe that by the time guns for hire drops (or shortly afterward) attani will not be allowed on a 3rd ship.

How about Inaldra with Light Scyk and Mindlink and Kaa'to Leachos with Mindlink?

Talonbane with vi, gc and tracers will give the scouts the TLs that they need. Add glitterstim for seasoning.

Anyway, I am happy that you to feel at least a little bit ashamed for playing jumpmasters.

Possibly, but right now a lot of times we expected the next Great Nerfing have come and gone with nothing, so I don't think it's much of a waste to devise a list based on what we have as rules presently.

I'd recommend you ditch either the unhinged astromechs or swap a single K4 for an intelligence agent in order to fit in a 32 point Fenn Rau:

With 30 points left over, Palob makes a neat fit for your list. His ability can be used to trigger Attanni if necessary (while also removing tokens from your opponent), and you've got enough points left over to kit him out effectively.

Example:

Palob Godalhi - Attanni Mindlink, Twin Laser Turret, Vectored Engines - 29 points

...or you could go for an Ion Cannon Turret to help control the movement of ships like Nym or Miranda. The Scouts are going to be the workhorses in your list, Palob can plink away with TLT from long range, using Vectors to control his final position, or be an utter nusiance and move in closer to strip tokens.

Having the rerolls on both TLTs attack is definitely good as well; personally I just prefer being able to control range and make sure i'm either in a safe position or able to trigger Palob's ability with Vectors.

Hi...If I have the points...would Stealth Device be a better option that Autothrusters? Wondering if I should be trying to get into Range one with Fenn. Can you/anyone explain the pros/cons of each option (AT vs SD)

No. AUtos are Fenn's best option, you just have to never be caught at range 2 in arc.

Fenn needs autothrusters to have both range 1 + range 3 protection, since he can boost into range 1 from range 2 if need be. He doesn't have the evade action, so some kind of definitive assurance against turrets is really crucial. Stealth device doesn't give you much of anything on Fenn, since he's either going to be at range 3 (4 dice and autos) or range 1 (4 dice and automatic evade), so the chances of hitting him are already very low.

I wouldn't recommend Palob with 2 JM5Ks. He presents a clear, easy target. Your opponent can kill him in the second combat round very easily, and then you've just got torpless 2 dice attacks left.

As a Palob pilot, I would like to echo the suggestion of @FTS Gecko and @thespaceinvader . Palob is a nice partner for Mindlink lists, and the fear his ability brings is amusing to watch. While I personally would probably go with the Dengar option myself, there is something to the range control Vectored Thrusters can give you. If you can, play test both and see which you like better.

But the same rumors have said that the Jumpmaster will lose a torpedo slot and the astromech, so that would require an entire reworking of the list.

Might as well work with what he have and know now rather than borrowing trouble.
