EaW - An Uncommon event printed as Common (?)

By blackholexan, in Star Wars: Destiny

The card I'm referring to is this one:

http://swdestinydb.com/card/03082

The thing is I noticed almost all the Italian community is asking for this card because it has been pulled quite rarely (0/1 out of a box, 2/3 out of a case).

This sounds weird.

Then I noticed that the swdestinydb.com spoiler list of EaW consist of 42 Uncommons and 58 Commons, while the previous 2 sets show 43 Uncommons (same number as rares) and 57 Commons.

What do you guys think?

Is this a misprint (just the rarity of course)?

I have seen people chasing it, being a misprinted Uncommon would explain why.

If it's a misprint and labeled as a common, shouldn't you get a few per booster box? If uncommon, should be 1 a box?

Isn't that normal CCG distribution? Not sure if different for this game though.

FWIW I got 2 or 3 of those out of 2 boxes.

I got two out of one box. There was one of these last set as well, wasn't there? A common that was unusually hard to get. Was it 'No Disintegrations' or something?

I got 7 out of 5 boxes, which while that is the lowest amount I have gotten for a common, I also only got 7 for several others, so it seems normal on my limited sample size..

From a case (6 boxes) we got 648 commons (3 x 36 x 6).

That means an average of 10/11 copies of each common (57 in the previous sets)

That was true for Awakenings and Spirit.

In the EaW case we got a minimum of 8 copies of each common.

Of the #82 we got only 5 (and acquiring a case somewhat equalizes distribution of rares, commons and uncommons).

A friend of mine got 1 out of 3 boxes.

There are a few players that got 0 out of 2 box (this happened to me for Electroshock in Awk and Fast Hand in SoR for example).

Many players in Italy are striving to get a playset for that card (a common!)

The raw data show that the distribution of this single common looks really similar to that of an uncommon.

Furthermore, the set shows one less uncommon and one more common than usual.

Tbh I don't think they changed the distribution of the rarities just for this set.

Your logic makes sense to me, I only got two of the things in about four boxes. The one that took me the longest to get was actually At Peace.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the rarity varies drastically within printed rarity. A very common common is Evade, for example, and a much less common common is The Power of the Force. A very common uncommon is Resolve, and a much less common uncommon is Buy Out. A very common rare is E-WEB Emplacement, a much less common rare is Vibroknife. A very common legendary is Baze Malbus, a much less common legendary is Palpatine.

I bought about equal amounts of each set. I have more copies of Resolve than The Power of the Force, more copies of E-WEB emplacement than just about any uncommon, and more of Baze Malbus than Vibroknife. I was lucky to get one Palpatine and trade for the other.

So, what I'm saying is that due to the fact that certain cards within each printed rarity are much more valuable than others, FFG has a hidden scheme as to which of those are more common than others. This will result in overlaps between the rarities, and you'll end up getting way more of certain "rares" than you get of even some "commons".

Does this apply to Legendaries too? Because in 3 boxes (18 total legendaries) I pulled:

  • 3 x Ancient Lightsabers
  • 3 x Seventh Sisters
  • 3 x X-8 Night Snipers
  • 3 x Hound's Tooth
  • 2 x LR1K Sonic Cannon
  • 2 x T-7 Ion Disruptor Rifle
  • 1 x Master of the Council
  • 1 x K-2SO

In the Rares department I pulled at least 1 of every rare except Bazine. In uncommons I pulled 1 of each except Impersonate (yet 5 or 6 Endurances). The card in question, Only Business Matters, I pulled 5 out of 3 boxes.

I think this is definitely a misprint. I've opened close to four boxes and have only pulled two of this.

2 boxes and no card. That's the only common i didn't get all other commons I've got 2+

5 boxes opened, got 3 copies of Only Business Matters.

Also only opened 2 copies of It Will All Be Mine, 0 Vader's TIE, 0 Ancient Lightsabers, 1 X-8 Night Sniper, 1 Thrawn, 4 Ghosts, 4 Hounds Tooth, 4 Ahsoka.

So yeah, I dunno. Random distribution is random and my boxes were painful. :P

I got 5 in 5 boxes. More like uncommon distribution numbers.
