help needed with Spynet Tokens

By X Wing Nut, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

"During a battle, after both sides have deployed their fleets, a player may spend a Spynet token to remove 1 friendly ship or 2 friendly Squadrons from the play area and redeploy them in any place allowed by the games objective card."

does this mean that after deployment I can spend a token and put one of my ships ANYWHERE on the board?

can I stick Mon Karen on my opponents side right behind my opponents ISD?

"any place allowed by the games objective card" does not say I cant do this or is there something I'm missing?

You're ignoring the bit about 'anywhere allowed by the objective card'. Ie your own deployment zone, adjusted for the objective (Fleet Ambush, Fighter Ambush, Hyperlane Raid etc).

Most cards don't say deployment zone anywhere I can read. With Fleet Ambush I cant see anywhere where it reads that a ship CAN NOT be taken out of the Ambush Zone and redeployed else where with the token. I some ways I feel maybe the token is meant to be used in this way

The rule also reads "During a battle, after both sides have deployed their fleets". So once the fleets have been deployed is there still a deployment zone?

I assume its meant to be the way you say I am just looking for the rules that say I CAN NOT do it and ships have to stay in the deployment zone(s) they were deployed

After means immediately after. So here is immediately after deploying fleets.

Not at the start of whatever comes after deployment.

So yes, there IS a deployment zone still.

So basically you follow the standard setup rules, plus whatever exceptions are introduced by the objective in play. Or do you expect each objective to spell out the deployment rules in detail? or otherwise they don't apply?

Relatedly there are some other effects (the Grav Shift, for example) that share the "after deploying fleets" timing.

You re deploy. That is the wording. If you are not doing a deployment based on special rules (such as hyperspace assault) the only place you can deploy or redeploy is the deployment zone

another quick one about the timing with Base Defence: Ion Cannon. Do you spend the Spynet token before or after the Ion Tokens go down?

Same timing window- so 1st/2nd player principals apply.

Spy net for 1st player is done first.

then second player resolves their spynet and ion in either order
