The carrier Defiance has been ordered into the Aturi Cluster to help establish an Alliance foothold, and liberate the system from Imperial tyranny. Departing from the Ison Corridor, our first order of business is to capture a refueling station for repairs and resupply. Due to the vulnerability of the carrier before the jump to light speed, Corsair Squadron was dispatched to patrol the asteroid field, and ensure the safety of the vessel.

Executive Officer's Report: During our 3 point patrol, no hostiles were encountered at Nav. 1 and 2, however during our approach to Nav. 3, Leads's sensors detected 4 contacts nearby. We diverted course and took standard Delta Formation. 2 wings of Eyes were spotted dead ahead, Alpha and Beta. We began an attack run on Beta 1 and 2, my ship receiving fire assistance from Lead, while 3 set his guns on the lead element. After a few moments our craft crossed lines, with shots fired. 3 scored light damage on the lead fighter, and my craft, 2, lost shields, forcing a snap roll into the asteroid field to escape. 3 pulled in behind the lead element scoring the first kill of the day. Lead and 2 continued engagement on Alpha 2, while my own ship worked around to engage Beta from behind the rocks. After a high intentsity k-Turn, I was able to score the second kill of the sorty, Beta Lead, which had at this point engaged our flight, and had previously sustained damage from turret fire. At this point my own sensors lit up, a squint on my 6. Due to prior damage, Lead gave the order to avoid engagement, unfortunately, Squint Delta was unavoidable, pursuing me through the asteroid field, constantly employing thrusters to stay on my six. Meanwhile, topside, Lead and 3 engaged Beta and Alpha 2, Lead scoring a kill after a High G maneuver, resulting in evavive maneuvers from Beta 2, putting him behind Alpha 2's wing. After his first burst took the wing of the ship, a second shot easily confirmed the kill. 3 meanwhile scored a kill on Beta 2 with a forward firing turret shot. It was at this point, another wing of Eyes, Epsilon, showed up on our scanners. Lead and 3 used a daring series of maneuvers to turn them into the asteroid field. My own ship had at last out maneuvered squint Delta, after a well timed roll, sending him careening into the asteroid field, allowing me to engage Epsilon Head on. With a massive assist from lead, 3 killed Epsilon 1 with a turret shot from behind, while my ship attacked Epsilon 2 from the side, after rolling along side it. This resulted in an unassisted gun kill on Epsilon 2. At this point, Defiance reported it had cleared to hyperspace, and Corsair Squadron exited the combat zone.

Kill Report: Lead: 1 Eye, 4 assists

2: 2 Eyes

3: 3 Eyes, 2 Assists

Casualties: None

Follow up: We have successfully entered the Arturi Cluster, more reports to follow.

Personal log: Talk about a first day! My first time in this X-Wing as a member of Corsair Squadron and already two kills! They have this peculiar little droid built into my ship, R2-B8, apparently his old master called him Tumbler. I quickly saw why today. Thanks to his integration, he can micromanage the ships engine, giving this ship unparalleled maneuverability for an X-Wing. I couldn't be happier, flight is an art form, and this ship is for an artist. It really showed that off against that squint, when my radar lit up, I thought he had me for sure, but Tumbler and I were always just a step ahead of those guns. It was pained me to let him go, I would have loved to paint those fanged wings on my fuselage... I wonder if we will meet again in the great arena that is the void....

The Captain seems a decent fellow, quiet, but dedicated to his men, always trying to keep us calm, but he's a little strange. He has operative written all over him, always talking about electronic warfare and the like. If you ask me he's fallen away from the pure art of flying. Still he's dedicated to his men, and that's something to be admired.

The other kid is a hotshot rookie. Ace as his friends on Tatooine called him apparently, more like Pretentious if you ask me. Still I have to hand it to him, he had the most kills on that run, not the most honorable, blasting them with that turret, but they are his kills never the less. He's a dreamer that one, always talking about the power of all the newer Alliance ships. I think he just resents having those bullseye engines. All in all I have high hopes for us in Aturi, and I hope we all come home. Although those Imperials today certainly won't be. I will never understand what leads humans to throw their lives away in service to so great an evil. Perhaps we can ask when this is all over. Captain says we will have more of the squadron up next time, looking forward to flying with them. Of course he makes me the XO, means I have to type up all of these reports.

Lt. Var Dras

Loving it, my friend! With I could have been there...
