I played my very first game of X-Wing back in May. Yesterday, I won my first store tournament. Personally, I feel like it was a big step for me as until May I had NEVER played any miniatures games or trading card games. I owe it all to my local store players, you guys and to several podcasts I listen to. The X-Wing community as a whole has been so helpful and encouraging. Now, time to continue to learn and take the next step!
Thanks everyone! This is a very helpful community!

Store championship?

Not sure. Store champ season is over and regionals are coming up next, right?
If that's the case, then I guess my goal is to make a decent run at a regional. I'd be happy to be in the top 50%
Great, kid! Don't get cocky.

Dang it! I've been around for years, guys. Help me win a store tournament already! I invoke the will of the Krayts to come forth and smite mine enemies!
Seriously though, good work. Clearly you picked up fast, grabbed the good bits of info from between the piles of salt and made the most of it. Credit where it's due, you made the choices on the table. Good job.

A) fly the meta
B) congrats, you won a store championship, but you are now "that guy". (the metawinger)

100% correct!!!!
I was flying the ships I loved from the OT and losing left and right. I wanted to fly X's, Y's, A's and B's against the latest wave of new ships. I was enjoying the game but not continuously getting whooped.
I started looking at ways to work meta ships into my squads and started seeing improvement.
Then I went full meta! I even started flying a ship I previously hated but I've seen consistent improvement since. That ship I hated was the E-Wing but it's taught me to fly better. It's become exceptionally fun arc-dodging and getting out of "bad spots". I think I'm enjoying that challenge even more than winning.
The E-Wing has also taught me patience. I've learned it's often more important to get out of arc and give up an opportunity to shoot in a round than trying to force an engagement that may not be favorable.
Many good lessons learned and many more to learn.

Well done on the win!
This quoted bit is what i use often when chatting to people. unless you're playing turrets, then you adjust according to what turret your opponent has!
What list did you run and what matchups did you have?

I'm running a PTL, Adv Sensor Corran and a Miranda with TLT, Bomblet Gen plus some ordinance.
Some of the match ups are Whisper, The Inquisitor and Double Edge; another with Maarek Stele, Countess Ryad and Double Edge; A Nora Wexley, Cassian Andor and Jess Pava; and a Dengar and Nym are a few I've faced.

You can still make a thematic list work at a store championship though. It comes down to list optimization and flying though, rather than just succumb to the meta all the time. It gets exponentially harder 'at anything higher though. SNES (A/B/X/Y) remains high on my list of "someday I'm gonna fly that because it looks fun" though.

What's that list?

I'm going to guess an A-wing, B-wing, X-wing and Y-wing. And I'm guessing it's called "SNES" because those are the button identification letters for an SNES controller.

Not everyone gets their kits on time unfortunately.
It also could be a supported event.

Correct!
Alternatively you could call it battle of endor no names. Because more than likely you'll be running gold squadron, blue squadron, green squadron, and tarn, of red squadron.

I figured it was an ABXY combo but was wondering is the SNES was a name for a particular complete list.
