Happy Birthday, X-wing!

By Managarmr, in X-Wing

Saw no thread about it (might have missed though...). Anyways, only 3 days late (ahem) release date 14th sept 2012, meaning:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, X-wing!

5 years , and going strong!

We were going to celebrate, but sabine bombed the cake in her new tie defender, and Nym wouldn't stop barrel rolling long enough for a group photo...

At this solemn time, I'd like to offer sincere condolences to my bank account on this, the anniversary of it's first of many assaults.

In another 5 years we'll have the following meta-leaders:

Scum: The Fapperoligarchyczetchmakxzxzk unarmed scout vessel. Its shadow is believed to be seen in a reflection off of the Millennium Falcon's hull in a discontinued comic made during the 1970s by an Indian publisher who never actually bought the Star Wars license. It has ATT 5, AGI 3, 7 hull, 6 shields, can cloak despite being a large base ship and has a native boost action. It has a "perfectly asymmetrical dial" where every maneuver to the left is green and every maneuver to the right is red. It has speeds 1,2 and 3 of both tallon rolls and segonors loops. The generic pilot is 21 points and comes with both an EPT and PS 9. It was not considered OP upon release, despite immediately winning every tournament at all levels for the next 5 years.

Imperial: Imperials get the TIE angst. Its flagship pilot is Kylo Ren, whose card art displayed him dynamically entering notes into his journal while in combat. It has a hull value of 1, but 35 agility with a dial composed entirely of green maneuvers and a primary attack value of 7. Its mandatory title states that whenever a bomb detonates you are considered within range 1 of it. Kylo's pilot ability remains unchanged, save the addendum; " You cannot destroy enemy ships, no matter how hard you try" ...

Rebel : Rebels get Sabine's Zonama Sekot. While the paint scheme is outstanding (including live moss, among other things), the 6 bomb slots and torpedo slot, combined with the title providing the use of any bomb template from either forward or rear nubs created concerns upon release. Sabine's ability also works strangely on a square base measuring a foot to a side. It comes with a new bomb upgrade that operates similar to the Bomblet generator except that your opponent rolls as many dice as you have "proof of purchase" tickets for X-wing TMG. This simultaneously drives up revenue while finally providing a use for those stupid white tags we've all had lying around for ages.

I'm excited for the now , but I'm concerned about where the game is heading. I think I'm gonna slow down on my... Gunboat? Gunboat!

5 years of fun times

And 5 years of the titular ship not seeing competitive play outside Biggs :P
