Another V-Wing

By Didymus, in X-Wing

I have loved the V-wing ever since i saw it in episode III and I know a lot of people have thrown their own ideas for the V-wing into the ring so i thought i would give it a crack.

I think the V-wing would make a fun all faction ship. the biggest problem is the empire not having astromechs.
The Empires extra agility represents the astromechs assisted piloting

Empire V-wing (OuterRim Milita)

Attack 2

Agility 3

Hull 2

Shield 1

Actions: Focus, BarrelRoll, TargetLocks

Upgrades: -

Rebbles V-wing (Rust Squadron)

Attack 2

Agility 2

Hull 2

Shield 1

Actions: Focus, BarrelRoll, TargetLocks

Upgrades: Astromech

Scum V-wing (OuterRim Raider)

Attack 2

Agility 2

Hull 2

Shield 1

Actions: Focus, BarrelRoll, TargetLocks

Upgrades: Salvaged Astromech

Let me know what you think. Are there any named pilots that would fly these ships for each faction and does anyone have a better idea for generic pilot names ?

You could replace the Astromech slot for System for the Empire.

Here is my take on the V-Wing.

I gave her 3 attack full 180-degree forward firing arc because of the " two twin laser cannons, which could swivel on the vessel's wing hubs to provide a wide range of fire. "

PS: I know Tarkin wasn't a Grand Moff when he pilot the V-Wing, but I kept his full name to match the crew card.

Brilliant!

I think 3,3,3 is a little high. by the time of the galactic civil war it was an old and outdated ship.

If the ARC didn't make the cut for the Imps in this game then the humble V-wing certainly won't. I totally can see it being scum tho because of Crap Astromechs and that game Empire at War.

the difference is the empire made use of a lot of V-wings. as far as i know, they didn't use the ARC-170 after the war.

Branding

the Imperial snowflake insignia explicitly makes it...Imperial.

Well, toys aren't a very accurate source... ;)

J/K, you are right, the Empire most likely used the ARCs (and all other later Clone Wars ships), specially considering the Empire foundation was only a few time after the ending of the war. The question is: how important they were and for how long the Empire employed these ships?

PS: I wouldn't mind to see Imperial ARCs in the future (with system instead of astromechs). They actually look cool in light grey.

yeah that would be cool. at the moment the ARC is my favorite ship to fly. the paint job is just so... colorful.

However i think getting the V-wing is a lot more likely then an imperial ARC or Y-wing.

Imperial V-Wings were used in mass aboard Star Destroyers before the Tie Fighters were in production, and during the construction of the first Death Star, Imperial 501st used Arc-170s to guard for there superior firepower against capital ships.

Actually, if you check out the Jedi star fighter Obi-Wan uses in Attack of the Clones, you will see the "snowflake" emblem kind of across from the astromech slot. It is similarly shown on the Fighters Anakin and Obi-Wan use at the beginning of Episode 3.

That's the Republic symbol, it has 8 spokes. The Imperial one has six.
