Death Star Turrets

By max_ryan, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Hi all, not sure if this is the right place, but have some Turret stats I'd like some comments on.

Title, Death Star Turret

Cost 10

Hit dice 5 Range 3-5 (Defender gains +1 agility at range 3, +2 agility at range 4 and +3 agility at range 5)

Defence 0 and always takes double damage from crits when defending.

Hull 10

Shields 0

Abilities, Focus and Target lock (range 3-4)

Movement, can not move after placement, but can rotate.

Firing arc out front only.

0 degree turn = red manoeuvre

45 degree turn = green manoeuvre

90 degree turn = white manoeuvre

135 degree turn = red manoeuvre

Manoeuvres are Left or Right depending on selection made on the dial.

I used the 'Single Turbolasers' card for ref. Cost and such.

This gives a more powerful weapon on the battle feild, but with blind spots and more statigic use.

Have considered putting the ability to add personnel cards, mainly for the 'Gunner'.

Basicly I wanted the death star turret to have the possibility of one hit kills as in the film, but also added difficulty in usage. After all, these are big turrets and can't turn that fast, so a 360 degree firing arc is silly in my mind.

Easy to take out if you get a turret ship within range 1-2 but a risk to get there.

Adds strategy to the imperials, protect the turrets or concentrate on taking out the enemy.

Any comments most welcome.

You should also throw in some heavy TL turrets, as they were also present on the DS ^^

These are the TLs with megaton level firepower.

Red: 1

Green: 0

Hull: 9

Shields: 2

Ability: For each uncancelled [hit] and [crit] the defender suffers 5 face-up damage cards

I've used very similar to this in scenarios. I've found significantly lighter hull/shields and only 3 Critical Damage to be significant enough. It rarely hits and is crippling when it does. I also changed the range on the gun to be ranges 2-5 using the epic ruler. Your particular cannon is certainly hard mode.

You should make a card for it. There is a program called Strange Eons. You can make cards for any board game/miniatures game.
