By Philluminati, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

Hi,

We're not really understand, how we have to use that card.

We we understand the point with the trait. But then. Okay somebody attacks the villain, but a non villain gets the bonus, but for what, the model isn't involved, the same if some one is revealed, what attack?

Maybe we are tooI'll stupid, but could someone please explain the card, maybe with one example for both situations.

Thanks Phill

The trigger for the card is "When a figure declares an attack." It does not specify who the attacker needs to be nor does it specify who the defender needs to be. Basically it can be applied to ANY attack as long as the attacker is a figure (and it's rare that it isn't).

So if a Hero attacks a Stormtrooper the Imperial can reveal/choose Kayn Somos as the villain to apply an evade. If the Stormtrooper is attacking the Hero then Kayn Somos can be chosen to add a surge.

Granted it's a little odd that it's "+1 [surge] and +1 [evade]" but you would use whichever is applicable. Also during the attack ALL Imperial figures with the trait gain those results, so if a Stormtrooper attacks a Stormtrooper through Murne's False Orders it would apply a surge to the attacker that is usually going to be canceled by an evade given to the defender.

If you use it when a hired gun is attacked they'd get a evade, and if that's not enough to keep them alive, they'd get the surge on their parting shot, wouldn't they?

The reason why the attack doesn't get both the evade and the surge is that the figures with the shared trait gain the symbols, and thus only the appropriate one is added to the attack/defense results.

Having Maul as a villain and giving an evade to a Nexu is pretty good combination. (They share the Brawler trait.)

"During this attack" is "for this attack". Any interrupt abilities attacks outside of it are excluded.
