What the **** am I thinking...

By Gottmituns205, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So I'm going to a comp this weekend...I'm sick of running mega big ships....and I feel the need for some crazy. The list is built around a 16 point bid, I want to go second to draw in the big fish...then smash them. Raider's move in fast and hit, then run, spin around, hit, run. The glad is kinda a beefed up raider who acts as a picket for the carrier. The Defenders are designed to sweep bombers and if they live...well hey they can strike other ships.

I toyed with putting Ozzel as the Admiral...to increase speed and unpredictability, yet Motti gives me a little more room to work with. What I'm curious about is a good way to use this list, I know If I'm going second I need to lure in ships and mass my fire to balance out higher MSU lists, and focus on the big boys.

You can't say HE double hockey sticks here?

Motti, Tua and RBD are on a wrong ship ;) I would also put External Racks instead of ACMs on Raiders and try to get that fifth activation.

Can you be more specific?

I don't think Quasar is good candidate for a flagship - it's too fragile and is going to die most of the time, so by loading 100 points on it, you're providing your opponent with a juicy target. I would either move the admiral to GSD wtih ET or provide him a personal Raider.

For example, this is the fleet I recently used that has a similar theme:

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 396/400

Commander: Admiral Motti

Assault Objective: Opening Salvo
Defense Objective: Hyperspace Assault
Navigation Objective: Superior Positions

Raider-I Class Corvette (44 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 51 total ship cost

Raider-I Class Corvette (44 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 51 total ship cost

Quasar Fire II-class Cruiser-Carrier (61 points)
- Squall ( 3 points)
- Agent Kallus ( 3 points)
- Ruthless Strategists ( 4 points)
= 71 total ship cost

[ flagship ] Raider-I Class Corvette (44 points)
- Admiral Motti ( 24 points)
= 68 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
= 23 total ship cost

1 Morna Kee ( 27 points)
1 Gamma Squadron ( 10 points)
2 TIE Bomber Squadrons ( 18 points)
1 Valen Rudor ( 13 points)
1 Colonel Jendon ( 20 points)
2 VT-49 Decimators ( 44 points)

Definitely. Love this idea. I agree with PT that the Quasar is darned near disposable. I love the Quasar every time I've used it so far though.

An alpha strike with it is nothing to sneeze at.

My area requires a large bid and several ships. I leaned towards this:

I want a big bid...I need to go second with this list...draw them in and then smash. The idea here is I play to the objectives...Opening Salvo plays huge with the Raiders as I could use them to attack at long range with blue and back with capacitors. Also Insidious on hyperspace assault would be grandiose for obvious reasons....

5 defenders with flight controllers with boosted comms = all the air superiority you could ever ask for.

Mmm I think disposable capacitors don't worth it in Raider I. Add pursuant to quasar I think it give flexibility to the quasar.

I don't like Opening salvo with only 3/4 ships (bring at medium distance quasar is dangerous) and with proton torpedoes I think is more worthy to choose this objective as is easier have on the the enemy ships cards
