Returning Player Need Advice on Rebel List

By Rettere, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi everyone - looking for some help with a rebel list. I have mostly old ships (stopped playing around the time scum and villainy shipped), but I've also bought the new core set so I have one T-70. Here's what I've thrown together so far - any thoughts on composition? I've tried to set up two heavy hitters and the A-wing to block/intimidate and enable the heavy hitters.

Also looking for feedback on which packs to buy to get caught up a bit - I never got a Millenium Falcon so the heroes of the resistance seems like a good buy, as does another T-70 pack. Anything else good for rebels these days?

As far as other things I've got to work with right now - I've got 2 Y-wings, 2 Z-95's, several T-65's, and the one B-wing and A-wing (already in the list)

[ REBEL SQUADRON (100 points)
1 • Keyan Farlander - B-wing - Push the Limit - Adv. Proton Torpedoes (38)
2 • Jake Farrell - A-wing - Intimidation - Chardaan Refit (24)
3 • Poe Dameron - swx36 - T-70 X-wing - BB-8 - Outmaneuver - Weapons Guidance (38)

I used to fly a list with those same pilots.

Crossfire (100)

•Poe Dameron (36) - T-70 X-Wing
Push The Limit (3), •BB-8 (2)

•Jake Farrell (31) - A-Wing
Veteran Instincts (1), Proton Rockets (3), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Push The Limit (3)

•Keyan Farlander (33) - B-Wing
Opportunist (4)

I had a lot of casual success with it about a year and a half ago. If I played the same pilots in a new list, it would look like this:

New Crossfire (100)

•Poe Dameron (41) - T-70 X-Wing
Intensity (2), •BB-8 (2), Primed Thrusters (1), •Black One (1), Autothrusters (2)

•Jake Farrell (27) - A-Wing
Veteran Instincts (1), Chardaan Refit (-2), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Autothrusters (2), Intensity (2)

•Keyan Farlander (32) - B-Wing
Rage (1), Collision Detector (0), B-Wing/E2 (1), Inspiring Recruit (1)

Proxy if you can.

If you're looking for a good buy for Rebels, HotR is a great choice. The K-wing is good if you can find one. The Auzituck Gunship has synergy with Biggs, who hasn't changed at all since Rebel Transport. YT-2400 is another great choice. Dash hasn't stopped being awesome, and Dash builds actually diversified in the last few waves. The problem with the YT-2400 is the number of other sets you need to fly it without proxies.

YT2400 comes with everything you need.

Lone Wolf, HLC, Outrider, and even Countermeasures.

OP, Heroes of Resistance is a great rebel buy. Lots of good stuff like PS9 Poe, Jess Pava, Nien Nunb, Snap Wexley, Black One Title, pattern analyzer and primed thrusters that make the T70 feel like a T70!! And of course you get Rey as well. If you like T70s, HotR box is a must.

That's one way to do it, but there are a lot of builds (better builds in my opinion) that require EPT, Crew and Mods from other expansions. PtL, Expertise, Kyle, Kanan, Rey, Snuggling Compartment (and the Illicits that go with), Engine Upgrade. Those upgrades are flung far and wide through at least $150 worth of expansions. All of that assuming you run Dash with HLC. I frequently run him with Mangler, which doesn't come in any Rebel expansion.

The point of my comments about Dash was the diversity of his options. That diversity doesn't come with the Yt-2400 set.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I ran this squad last night at our local gaming night:

[ REBEL SQUADRON (99 points)
1 • Poe Dameron - swx36 - T-70 X-wing - BB-8 - Outmaneuver - Weapons Guidance - Integrated Astromech - Black One (39)
2 • Jake Farrell - A-wing - Predator - Chardaan Refit - Hull Upgrade (28)
3 • Keyan Farlander - B-wing - Push the Limit (32)

It was a bit of a catastrophe from a piloting perspective (at one point I had the B-wing and A-wing run into each other while both on top of the same asteroid), but Poe saved the day with barrel rolls before moving giving a lot of flexibility and room for error in maneuvering. Also the combination of poe's ability and weapons guidance allowing for an eyeball and a blank to both become hits, along with outmaneuver meant poe was extra lethal across the board.

I gotta say I am hooked on the barrel roll before moving... what other ships can do this besides a BB-8 equipped vessel? It looks like Sabine's Tie can, and maybe B-wings with Advanced Sensors... I realize it is a crutch for asteroid dodging but until I re-learn the maneuver templates I am gonna try to find more ships that can do it!

Here's my updated list, AKA 'everyone barrel rolls before moving'. I couldn't figure out what to do with the last 7 points so I got shield + hull upgrades.

[ REBEL SQUADRON (100 points)
1 • Keyan Farlander - B-wing - Push the Limit - Advanced Sensors - Hull Upgrade (38)
2 • Sabine Wren - TIE Fighter - Intensity - Shield Upgrade (21)
3 • Poe Dameron - swx57 - T-70 X-wing - BB-8 - Outmaneuver - Weapons Guidance - Integrated Astromech - Black One (41)

The problem with Weapons Guidance on Poe is that he'll be firing before a lot of ships, which means he would be spending his focus token before getting to use it for defense. With BB-8, it's hard to go wrong with Primed Thrusters so you can guarantee that BB-8 barrel roll no matter what.

Corran/Ewing with Adv Sensors

Bwing with Adv Sensors

my favorite Sabines attack shuttle (TLT,Chewie,Hull upgrade, EPT to taste like Lone Wolf, Juke, etc.)

Sabines TIE Fighter

Nym/Scurrg w/ Adv Sensors

Cassian/Uwing with Adv Sensors + Experthandling

been curious about this, could Corran use BB-8 and advanced Sensors for 2 barrel rolls before moving in a prenerf whipser-like fashion???

No. The rules state that a ship can only perform each specific kind of action once per turn. Only one Barrel Roll, only one Boost, etc.

He could adv sensors Boost, reveal a green to barrel roll, then PTL off that. But not two b-rolls in a row.

OK,thanks, I got myself confused with the "Free" barrel roll
