Ryhmer/Quasar Menace

By LordStroyer, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hi guys, anyone tried something like this? Question: do I really need that FCs? Should I switch Mithel for more Bombers?

Love it!

Any chance of getting Squall in there? I think bomber/jumpy positioning is really important. Squall has been terrific for me so far.

Also really like having Mithel, but could totally see swapping him out for Zertik and his beef.

I think it's cool. The only thing is Quasars are really squishy. The fleet that gives you the most issues I think would be the trc90 swarms, or anything that stays at long and peppers you.

For the points Zertik is good here, but I also like vader. Mithel is great against mustache ride though.

I'd fly this though. I love the squad makeup.

I think a VSD could work here over the 2nd Quasar. I think they are super squishy as well. You have plenty of activators, but you could use more distractor, threat type ships

Cool idea for a fleet! If it was up to me i'd probably swap all the boosted comms for a lambda shuttle or two (or maybe Jendon + Maarek Stele as that combo is bonkers) As Buckero0 pointed out a VSD would probably make for a better flagship (if you can find the points then a VSD II with disposable capacitors + quad battery turrets goes a long way and is pretty tanky with Motti).

It is a cool concept. And within that concept its really well built.

However, it suffers from some drawbacks that must compensated for by skillful play:

Ruthless Strategists, esp. multiples of them in a multi-activation list CAN be very deadly to enemy squadrons. However, they are susceptible to obstruction. A skillful opponent will give you a lot fewer RS shots than you probably want/count on.

Besides feeding your TIE bombers to the RS meat grinder, you have very little anti-squadron. It's not insurmountable, but again, be wary of skillful squad-heavy opponents taking advantage of this weakness.

Finally your two "combat" ships are incredibly squishy, both at range and up close. That is perhaps your greatest weakness.

He does have double RS and FC.... And 2 long range red fire QFs. That's plenty of AA I think.

But you will have a problem with people rushing your carriers.

thx for all comments. People rushing the carriers will be indeed a major problem, as well as acc generating long range firepower. I do not think, (even a outfitted) VSD can handle the sq-game appropiate and therefore I think a switch isn` t worth it. Maybe I´ ll give double repair-team a try but in my humble opinion a well prepared last first tap will either blow it away - so in the end useless.
