I've never attended either, and I suppose since I don't even like spending money on Vacations, I doubt I'll be traveling to a game event. Although, NOVA is a drivable distance... I don't see the point to go play at a level beyond a regional level. My lifetime record at Regionals is...abysmal.
I'll definitely miss the Stele Open. That was just the right level of competitive for me.
I have heard a lot of positive things about GenCon however.

No, it's my international rights which are violated without recourse
I keep trying to hit GenCon. It's less than a 4 hour drive from my house. It's tough to get hotels and stuff, so I usually don't bother.
I hope to be at Gencon next year, and hopefully with @geek19 in tow. We'll see.

Thats valid, sorry to pry.... I'll be honest I was kinda hoping you were like an international diamod thief on the lamb from a hard nosed Interpol agent, and his have a heart but by the rules fbi buddy. And you can only come here in 4 years because the statuet of limitations is up then. Can you tell I daydream alot?

In 4 years' time the moon will be in the Seventh House of Ra and as prophecy has foretold, the Age of Man will wane and the Age of @Drasnighta will wax towards a horrific fullness; a new age fit to burst with dark possibilities where bent and twisted creatures will crawl from the charnel houses and swamps and Canada to take dominion over the planet and all its rules forums . And also maybe nose punches and plastic spaceships. Jury's still out on that last one.

I'm sick, so not happy :(. I will, however, be at NOVA again next year (which will be my 4th year, and 3rd year with a Supernova if I get it in time). Probably won't do the Nationals again (too hardcore for me) but will do some of the furball and casual events.
I'm torn. I really enjoyed NOVA, but there's no guarantee it will be the US Nationals location next year. GenCon was fun, but much too expensive. I have to request my long vacations all at the start of the year, I can't just disappear for a week on two months notice.
To be frank, FFG needs to be announcing these dates and locations shortly after the last event. If they're going back to NOVA, there's no excuse to not be told by Christmas. If they have to raffle off World's tickets, raffle them off in January. Purple are traveling, sometimes internationally, to these events and FFG needs to communicate with that in mind.
Nova might be fun to go to, also if in DC its nice to visit Arlington and see my grandfather's resting place.
