New Canon!

The possibilities could be hilarious, I welcome the fastest mouse droid upgrade card, definitely under fleet command.
Unless of course, they specify it is legends. then it is legends. Not canon.
They do allow that caveat.
Finally the story everyone was asking for! The imperial mouse droid...
Please canonize the man, the mauler, the Mithel!
Also I swear if they rename Figrin Dan and the Modal Nodes...

I'll die.

You'll engage in despondent jizz-wailing?
I'm so excited about this new collection, I really like the authors they chose.

Isn't he already canon? He flew into Vader in the trench didn't he?

What??? He dies? Where does Howlrunner get introduced?
That a pilot flew into Vader in the trench, is canon.
His name (Mithel) nickname (Mauler) and backstory, are Legends.
Same with Howlrunner - she is one of the TIEs pursuing the Falcon away from Bespin:

Well you see, he introduces his tie to Vader's tie, and the rest they say is history.

I had first heard of Mauler and Howlrunner through the Armada cards, and as they were heroes like Soontir, I assumed they had to be pretty cool pilots. I am therefore surprised that they are unnamed pilots in the movies, one of whom dies a few minutes after he is introduced.

Yeah kinda like Biggs right? Dude who gets blown up like 10 min after he gets introduced. I know is weird but is seems like most of these named pilots get killed real quick in cannon.

So is Star Wars the reverse of Star Trek, the red shirts live, look at no name Y-wing pilot at Yavin........

You mean Keyan Farlander?
IIRC there are no TIE pilots identified by name in the OT.
I mean, most Imperial characters were not identified by name.
Well shoot, the only named (named on screen) pilots at Yavin were:
Darth Vader
Luke Skywalker
Wedge
Biggs
Tiree
Dutch
Everyone else is "COLOR NUMBER" like Gold 5.
Porkins as well

In the original novel, some of these guys get more of a look in. From memory, Black Squadron wasn't his squad, he just took charge of them. Part of the reason so few fighters went out to meet the X-Wings, as they weren't considered a threat, the general alarm wasn't sounded. when Vader says "Get your men to their ships."That pilot was Mauler.
Howlrunner was the leader of Obsidian which was seen in Empire strikes back chasing the Falcon in the asteroid field and again at the end of the movie at Bespin.

Actually the phrase was "Get the crews to their fighters" and the guy was Tanbris:
