Modular gaming tables

By MasterZelgadis, in Star Wars: Legion

I'm a beginner in wargaming, but with Legion I want to start that hobby and also create a modular table, because we do not have much room to store multiple 90x180 tables.

But how should I start? I could split each 90cm plate into 4 x 45 cm tiles. But 45 cm seem to be a bit small to make good modular terrain, isn't it? Especially with Legion having a little larger scale than warhammer..

So how do you approach the creation of modular terrain tiles for Legion?

edit:

I "painted" a bit in excel (square cells + frames) and came up with 4 possible approaches..
2 x 90 x 90 (pretty much the standard for non-modular)
8 x 45 x 45 (maybe prefer this.. perhaps I can 3D-scratch-design something to see how scale would look like)
12 x 30 x 45 (even more possibilities to arrange the modules, but even less space per module..hmm..)

Go for 2x2' or 1.5x1.5' tiles, size selection based if you want legion only 1.5) or other games like 40k.

There's already some good videos out there, and I'm in prepro on one of my own as well where I'll take you through the process step by step and talk options and supplies.

Yep, watched some videos after posting this, I think it will be the 8 x 45 cm x 45 cm. Will be legion only, no 40k.
