MC Hammer?

By Battlefleet 01 Studios, in Star Wars: Armada

With the soon release of the MC75, I am wondering will it be possible to fit the big three into a single list, the big three being MC75, and the two MC80 variants. Naturally, they all work in different ways, but I am wondering what potentially a list of the three together might look like?

What are your thoughts?

The first person i played at the first tournament i attended fielded three madine lead Liberty's with engine techs and leading shots on each. It was...terrifying.

It could be done I'm sure, how effective I'm not sure. All my games recently have featured heavy squadron presence, a list like this would have to go with minimal, if any squads. At least around here a list like that would die by 1000 paper cuts. Besides, unlike running 3 ISD's this mixed bag of the big three may suffer from a lack of synergies.

The info that is still needed right now is the mc75 speed chart. Without it we won't have an idea how to run the big three together. I am predicting that the mc75 would be able to broadside but can also turn in to the enemy if timed well. Probably pair with the Hmc80 with the 75 leading, while the Lmc80 can operate as a flanker/separate threat. I'd be concerned for how the list would survive against squadron lists though

I've run 2xMC80B and one MC80C. No squads. It's a thing. A very odd, high risk-reward thing.

I intend to run 3xMC80B with engine techs someday

I played with this list once. It was so fun I considered actually buying the extra liberties to do it if I ever get to go in a tournament.

  • MC80 Battlecruiser, Endeavour, Madine, gunnery teams, engine techs, leading shots
  • MC80 Battlecruiser, gunnery teams, engine techs, leading shots
  • MC80 Battlecruiser, gunnery teams, engine techs, leading shots
  • 400 points

Spam movement commands to make them all speed 4, change 2 speed in a turn, add +2 yaw in a turn. All have 2 black anti-squad dice, and all can shoot 2 different ships from their front hull zone.

That is an awesome list. I have been surprised with how I haven't seen very many multiple liberty lists.

Really people?

The only MC Hammer you will ever need.

Imps sometimes use the triple ISD, I don't see why we shouldn't be able to do the same. But would it be efficient enough? Dunno yet. To be tested, for sure!

when I flew Madine+triple liberty it was crazy fun.

If you want to leave the opponent feeling utterly impotent, try this:

  • MC80 star cruiser, (Mon Karren) Madine, Engine techs, leading shots, heavy turbo laser turrets, X17s
  • MC80 star cruiser, Engine techs, leading shots, heavy turbo laser turrets, X17s
  • MC80 star cruiser, Engine techs, leading shots, heavy turbo laser turrets, X17s
  • 398 points

All the previous shenenigans, but just get stuck in and open fire. The entire list revolves around making their ability to defend against your shooting pitiful. Good luck trying to brace, redirect or evade any of that damage. Oh, and all ships can re-roll dice, and are as manoeuvrable and fast as the previous list.

My list only had a Home One because I didn't have 3 Liberties as the time. Had I the third, my list was essentially the same as your post except for Rieekan instead of Madine. I waffled on and off about Endeavor.

Here is a goofy "Embrace the niche" Sato/Liberty list.

Sato - (What was I thinking) Liberty
Author: Church14

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 398/400

Commander: Commander Sato

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Intel Sweep

MC80 Star Cruiser (96 points)
- Intel Officer ( 7 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- NK-7 Ion Cannons ( 10 points)
= 120 total ship cost

MC80 Star Cruiser (96 points)
- Intel Officer ( 7 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- NK-7 Ion Cannons ( 10 points)
= 120 total ship cost

[ flagship ] CR90 Corvette B (39 points)
- Commander Sato ( 32 points)
= 71 total ship cost

1 Han Solo ( 26 points)
2 YT-1300s ( 26 points)
1 Tycho Celchu ( 16 points)
1 Jan Ors ( 19 points)

As for the OP: I intend to run a few "Tribute to the Mon Cal" lists once Profundity drops. Sort of do that now with all MC lists

2 or 3 of any one of the rebel large can be terrifying if built right. 2 mixed with some support can be effective.

Mixing all 3 into a list doesn't look like a great idea to me. They play entirely different roles. The Liberty is a front arc long range slugger. The Home One is a long range flanker. The Profundity is looking to be a close range brawler. They don't compliment each other very well.

Lets say you send the Profundity in close to mix it up, keep the Liberty back for fire support and run the Home One up around the side of the battle to support from another angle. Sounds great! Except the enemy can park a significantly cheaper ship in front of the Home One and effectively stall and block him all day long. With no support for the Home One, he's effectively out of the game. The rest of the enemy can simply swarm the Profundity. He's got no close in support to spread damage, obstruct shots, or keep other ships at bay. Once the Profundity is out of the picture the Liberty either needs to peel off where his arcs suck, or just roll in to die also. If he peels off, the enemy could just swing over and deal with the stuck Home One that is likely losing a 1v1 vs a smaller/cheaper ship.

I could definitely see an MC/Home one congo that would make a nasty combo. The MCs front arc makes blocking the congo dangerous while it's side arcs look to be decent at medium/long range. Bring the Home One in behind for lots of firepower, and then add in a little support for flavor. Maybe an assault frigate or a couple CR90s for quick response actions.

MC75s with some MC30s for a straight up brawl supported either of the other large ships would be fearsome.

Heck, just chucking 3 MC75s would be crazy. 2 contains to shut down crits. Great front arc punch with nice dice in the other arcs to either support with double arcs or just to keep flankers busy.

I just don't see 1 of each being a very viable list.

I've done a Madine double Liberty with Salvation before, but that at least leaves room for some squadrons. I'm sure I will give a 3 MC list a go at some point.

I support most of that.

I run 2XMC80A and a flotilla a lot. It's an aggravating build to face just due to the sheer amount of abuse they take.

I run 2xMC80B/S with a support ship a lot as well. Sometimes flops, but shines when it goes off and works.

I struggle to mix MC80A/C with MC80B/S. it can be done, but I always end the match thinking I needed to commit one way of the other. I keep doing it because of the aesthetic of the Mon Cal fleet.

MC75s seem like they can kind of go with either Home Ones or Liberties.

MC30s are the MC-bacons. Just drop them on everything and it gets better.

Well I will defintely try to make a list with all three when the Profundity comes out, because even if it doesn't work it will sure be fun!
