What about an anchor turn for large base ships?

By Shadow345, in X-Wing

Instead of moving, you turn your large base ship 90 degrees in one direction.

Make it an upgrade for another ship that latches onto it like an anchor and turns it around.

Maybe limit it to large base ships with forward firing arc only.

It would help bring something like the First Order Shuttle or U-Wing into the game in a new way.

Sorta like the U-wing landing mode (but only 90 degrees rather than 180)?

The thing is that most large base ships have special arcs (shuttles are the exception along with a handful of others), and the ones that don't usually have the option of daredevil (daredevil Kylo is pretty fun :)).

It could work but I'm not sure what niche the mechanic fills or what it's meant to buff...

it's definitely got some use but I don't see a need for the maneuver, but who knows, we actually got the Gunboat so anything is possible with FFG these days

The last thing large base ships need is to be able to turn TIGHTER.

(Except the U Wing, Lambda and Upsilon, for those, HECK YAH).

This is the least trolling post I've ever seen from shadow. Still...

I didn't even notice, it's actually a fairly reasonable suggestion for any large base ship without a turret or additional arc(s).

Yeah but that's a pretty important caveat, also are we thinking modification? Additional title?

It only sorta matters but it's a noteworthy detail, the 90 degree turn seems somewhat overpowered to me.

Probably an additional title. Personally, I'd like to see it as an erratum to Pivot Wing - make Pivot Wing operate before you execute your manoeuvre, rather than after, add wording to this effect, and give it to the Upsilon and Lambda as well.

It's not remotely overpowered... on those three specific ships. They're all way more expensive than their dials and lack of any extra arcs or out of arc secondaries would indicate.

So it's a 1 hard turn? ?

On the spot though.

I had an idea like this for a title for the Imperial shuttles.
