Corellian Conflict - Task Force Title Cards

By MrDumbAzCanB, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Can Task Force Title cards be switched out on ships between rounds?

Example:

Round 1, three of my ships have Task Force Organa.

Round 2, same three ships now use Task Force Antilles?

Titles cannot be removed from ships.

The CC came out about a year before the Hammerheads, however, and the Hammerheads are the first ship to receive non-unique titles. In terms of the rules, nothing technically changes, but it feels like they should be exchangeable, I agree with you. They are task forces after all - it would seem appropriate for those task forces to change.

Fortunately, the campaign is not an official competition, so the rules can be flexed to fit with how you and your fellow players feel they should be played. So officially, no; but unofficially, talk to the other players and agree amongst yourselves. :)

Indeed. With Chimaera bringing new task force titles to ISDs too, I'm sure the following is a change that both teams can get behind.

Hous-rule it! I mean, it is CC.

Eh, I cannot get behind that.

Why's that? I'm genuinely interested. You're far more of a rule guru than I am.

I mean, clearly it is a house rule - I would obviously never argue that it is RAI (let alone RAW). But it seems like a rather harmless house rule, and I can't imagine that any gaming group worth playing in would get bent over it.

Ouch.

i mean, thematically, I've always considered titles to inherently include a set of modifications to the way the core ship functions. Yavaris was extra C&C, Demolisher was an upgraded and unique fire control system.

even thematically to me, the Task Force titles are representing a broader set of crews that are trained and operate very successfully together in a certain way. That is not something that can just be disregarded at a moments notice and replaced with a great set of heavily integrated crew and equipment.

CC is my gaming groups opportunity TO embrace thematic and campaign elements outside of the norm for tournament games.

Thank you for implying we would not be worth playing with.

My apologies Dras, I did not mean to imply that - I chose my words carefully when I said "bent over" rather than "disagree with".

I think it's very reasonable to propose this house rule, and also very reasonable to decide (as a group) not to use it. My point was only that it's so minor that it should never lead to heated exchanges. It's just not worth arguing about one way or another.

Yeah I can see the logic behind that. I'm inclined to agree with you. This said, I think it's a matter of interpretation. You feel it's more thematic that a task force be established and permanent for the duration of a campaign; equally, I could see a task force being specific to each individual engagement, representing a flexible force able to perform multiple roles.

In which case, as I said, it comes down to the individual group's decision. To Mr Dumb I'd still say, talk about it as a group, decide what fits with your narrative, and agree it amongst yourselves.

I prefer MrDumbAz lol

But I couldn't find my rule book for a bit and wasn't sure if it just said title, or unique title cards. I'm going off of what Diablo posted.

So the RAW interpretation would be yes we can swap out task force titles?

Apologies MrDumbAz. ;)
