Wookie Commandoes

By EAuyang, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I tried searching the forum, but couldn't come up with anything. and maybe this is a ridiculous question, but for clarification:

Since the text says "When attacking, you may re-roll all of your [eyeball] results", if you re-roll your eyeballs and get more eyeballs, can you re-roll them until you end up with a blank, hit, or crit?

ie: 3 attack dice: 1 blank, 2 eyeball. Re-roll 2 eyeballs - 1 hit, 1 eyeball. Do you get to re-roll the eyeball again?

No. A dice can only be rerolled once.

OK, I thought it would be too powerful to keep re-rolling until a "non-eyeball" result is turned up. Thanks!

To expand on Zoidberg's comment. A die can only EVER be re-rolled once per attack. No matter the source. So, for example, if you use the wookie commandos and re-roll your focus and got a blank, you could not then spend a target lock to roll it again. But you could change the face of the die. So if you used the wookie commandos, rolled another focus, you could spend your focus (if you had one) to change it to a hit.

More generally, you can't use a card more than once per opportunity. From the Rules Reference, page 8, first bullet under "Card Abilities":

"A card ability cannot be resolved more than once during the timing specified on the card. For example, a card with the timing of 'when defending' cannot be resolved twice by the defender during a single attack."

Which is a reason that "force your opponent to reroll an attack die" is so nasty; not only may it turn a hit to a blank, but they can't then use predator or target lock to reroll it back.
