Just For Fun - What's Your Ultimate Anti-Biggs?

By FTS Gecko, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I was just messing around, put the following together and started laughing out loud:

Omega Specialist - Special Ops Training, Ruthlessness, Assault Missiles, Guidance Chips, Collision Detector x 3

Probably a Thweek list with Serissu, Bodyguard, etc.

That, or lots and lots of PS 3 Snap shot A-wings.

You're on the right track, however, bad dice can result in one or two assault missiles failing to hit. Here's an idea that gives you more ways to deal with less than ideal situations:

Omega Specialist w/ crackshot, spec ops, FCS, chips & target synch + missile of your choice* = 35/36

Gamma Vet w/ ruthlessness, seismic torp, assault missile, seismic bomb, extra munitions & chips = 33

Gamma Vet w/ ruthlessness, assault missile, ion bomb, extra munitions & chips = 31

99/100

* Homing or Assault missile is probably best. Homing lets you snipe a non-biggs ship if you felt the need (or wanted to diversify your list to beat non-biggs opponents). Another good option for a point cheaper is Harpoon Missile. It lets you keep the target lock to make hitting more likely, and its also nice since it gives you that tiny initiative bid so you can let Biggs move first (and therefore make getting all of your target locks easy). However, you might want A Score To Settle instead of crack shot (so that its more likely to get splash damage right away)

The bombs on the Gamma Vets give you the ultimate jousting power since k-turning behind you (if anything is still alive) becomes a terrible idea. Also, the seismic torp means that you don't have to worry about approaching through the rocks. You can just joust any opponent on any part of the board without too much concern. Lastly, Targeting Synch protects you a bit from a bad roll, since you get that second chance to re-roll any of your attacks using the Omega Specialist's target lock. This means that you are very, very likely to hit with all of your ordnance on the critical first turn of shooting and wipe half of the opponent's list off the board (unless they have the intelligence to break formation!)

Obviously, this list suffers a bit against higher PS targets and against opponents who are smart enough to break formation. Its absolutely foolhardy to stick close to biggs when facing this kind of splash damage...

Bombs are very much anti Biggs. Bomblet generator, ion bombs, anything that damages multiple ships is the best way to do it. I like the idea of assault missiles, but they usually don't get too far on the actual table.
