Chimera paint job on top?

and they will never know the power of the dark side....the fear that can be instilled upon the galaxy from a REAL star destroyer, all they have left is emo darth vader, and long neck star destroyers and stubby tie fighters....

And then, we'll grow old and die, and those memories will die with us.

Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the force.
Mourn them do not. Miss them do not.
Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of Greed that is.

Anyone else notice how Starwars also seems to be edged lately with more "spotlight" being thrown on Darth Vader VS Luke as well, Even Darth Vaders mask had more air time then Luke himself!

This. Especially Emo Vader when he throws his temper tantrum and slices up the generic computer equipment in his bedroom to show he's real mad!

The VAST majority of fans couldn't spot the difference between a ISD1 and an ISD2. They simply wouldn't know. I'd be the majority of Armada players don't know the differences. To do an entirely new sculpt (expensive process) for something like that would be wasted effort.

Painting it on the top of the model just makes sense. You don't see the bottom of the models in gameplay.

I honestly didn't even notice the long neck issue in Rebels for the first season. It wasn't until someone pointed it out that I even started noticing it. From most angles it looks ok, but now that people point it out, I can't unsee it. While watching the show, it doesn't bother me. In still pictures I don't care for it.

Resisting... urge... to.. point.. out... ISD inconsistencies...

It is also possible that the Star Destroyer on the very right of frame is the Chimaera as well, but you can't tell wether that's just the way its being Lit, or because there is the White Chimaera Markings on it.

The one on the left seems to have the markings in question. The one on the right, too. Possible that all the Eigth-Fleet ISD are so marked?

It is the Star Destroyer of the Generation that are growing up and learning about Star Wars, now.

Well, bully for the new generation. IIRC, that's why we got JarJar Binks. Something to attract The New Generation.

How about they just do Star Wars as hard as they can, and see if the new generation likes it?

Double-post. Sorry.

Arguably Rogue One is as far as they go.

Just in case you guys have not see this... concept art and the spray for the Chimera in rebels -

reb_ca_2032_4d4e210d.jpeg

Let's remember that emo seems to run in the Skywalker genes, see Anakin episode 3... Though it may skip a generation

I would hope that the Chimaera has the emblem on the bottom. Then, if it turns out the Rebels Chimaera doesn't have the same emblem on the top, all you need to do is use the third Star Destroyer we all already have, and pull the top off both and swap them out. That gives you a fluff accurate ISD Chimaera!

I, for one, actually quite like Emo Darth Vader. One of the only things I liked in TFA, in fact. (Ignoring visual designs, of which there were a lot of things I liked).

Kylo was the biggest breakaway in the movie from retreading A New Hope, and his fragile ego and insecurity were a good contrast to Darth Vader's confident, commanding personality. And the scene where he loses it on some poor control panels was lampshaded by the comical reaction of the Stormtroopers walking past; it's not as though the movie didn't know it was a ridiculous thing for a person to do.

Oh sure, he was insecure a small handful of times, but the fact is he projected it a lot more as a way to lure in his enemies to strike them down easier. aka Han... He knew what he was going to do the moment he started with that emo line.... its crap writing, its boring to watch and there is no real substance there.

At least Confident Darth Vader was a thrill to watch, he was a villain to be feared, with Kylo, its makes you cringe at the choices he makes, the mistakes he lets slip, It took way to much effort to take on Finn in a lightsaber duel, and even if Finn turns out to be force sensitive, he still shouldnt have been that big of a hindrance to Kylo, who had training from both Luke and old hologram alien tard thing....

I dont know how any one outside of little kids can really say the new movie was any good in the writing, plot, or character development area. They even managed to make Chewie look like just some stupid pet at the end of the movie who didnt deserve a hug when Han Died.... everyone kinda just ignores Chewie...

The best part of the movie was the Falcon doing stunt flying through a skeleton of a super star destroyer.....and really, its not THAT impressive when you take in the death star 2 trench run

To go back somewhat to the OP....lol, I am fine with the marking where it is. I customize my fleet, Blood Squadron, with red markings, so I am going to overpaint the pattern in red, call it Blood Dragon, and it will be my new flagship, replacing Blood Reaver.

flagship_zpseec2dght.jpg

Thats the current flagship. Aside from repainting the top design, I may add further details and lights like on this one to the Chimaera model.

I'm thinking that the Star Destroyers we see in Rebels are a sort of transitional version between the Imperial I and Imperial II. The two major differences I spotted to the Imperial I were the use of octuple barbettes and the lack of forward turbolasers at the base of the "steps" (I don't know what the technical term for the terraced levels would be). I'm guessing Rebels must have taken place at some point where certain Star Destroyers were receiving refurbishments and/or updates to their weaponry and tech to try to keep up with the times and standards. But back on the topic of the paint job, I don't think it would have it on top mostly because it would look so distorted from the uneven hull it would be hard to make out the design from any angle except from straight down. Also it would cost twice as much. I know that's a lame point, but just think about how much paint would have to go into a project like that. Gotta draw the line somewhere!
