Crits greater than Toughness and sleep

By BCA, in WFRP Rules Questions

My Question is pretty much as the Topic implies. What happens when a character has crits greater than his toughness and tires to go to sleep. As far as I know, the only way (other than magic) to heal (not ignore the effects of) a crit is to make a resilience check after a full nights sleep. Since a full nights sleep requires the character to be unconcious and the check does not occur until AFTER the rest is completed, what happens to the character? By the RAW should s/he be dead?

I know since this question inherently involves metagame thinking, its hard to separate it out, but I'm looking for an answer/opion based on RAW, I can already justify many reasons, to keep the character alive if I was so inclined.

Sleeping and being knocked out isn't the same.

It's described on page 63.

A player is KNOCKED unconscious once his number of wounds is greater than his wound threshold.

Death requires someone to be KNOCKED unconscious and suffering from a greater number of critical wounds than his toughness.

So you always die in combat and not in your sleep. To be knocked unconscious you need to have more wounds than your threshold and since sleeping don't cause damage, I don't see how it could kill anyone. If someone survives a fight, then he will obviously also survive a good nights sleep.

Not to mention that asleep does not equal unconscious.

This is WARHAMMER, man! Characters should never have the privilege of dying in their sleep ... except by an assassin's blade! Sigmar's sizzling sausages!

In all seriousness, I would have to assume that the RAW does indeed make a distinction between being KNOCKED unconscious and falling asleep.

It simply isn't possible. To die you have to be knocked unconscious (and have more critical wounds than your toughness). If you have been knocked unconscious you can't really decide to go to sleep. You can only get under the blancket if you your number of wounds doesn't exceed your wound threshold and in that case you can't die.
